Yes, you can continue breastfeeding while taking balantha kaada, especially since your baby is already more than 6 months old and no issues have been noticed so far. Balantha kaada is traditionally used after delivery to support recovery and usually does not cause harm to the baby when taken in proper dose. Since you have not noticed any change in milk supply or any symptoms in your baby, it appears to be suiting you well. Just ensure the dose is moderate and not excessive. Avoid very strong or concentrated preparations. Keep your diet simple, warm, and nourishing. Maintain good hydration, as it supports both recovery and milk quality. At home, continue taking warm milk, ghee, and balanced meals to support strength. Continue balantha kaada in moderate dose as you are taking If the baby shows any symptoms like loose motions, excessive crying, or rash, then pause and reassess. A baby should ONLY be fed with breast milk upto 6 months of life. About balant kadha: There has been no incidence seen of any problem caused by balant kadha to the baby. In case you see your baby showing some symptoms like loose motions, vomiting or any rash rest assure no problem. If the baby shows any symptom STOP BALANT kadha. Baby should be breastfed only. No other form of milk to be given. If breast milk is insufficient give formulae milk with opinion of pediatrician.

Hello, In Ayurveda, Balantha Kada (or Balantharishtam) is considered a vital postnatal tonic. It is specifically formulated to help a mother recover her strength, improve digestion, and purify the uterus after delivery. According to Ayurvedic principles, Balantha Kada is not only safe but often recommended during breastfeeding. It is classified as Stanya Shodhana (milk-purifying) and Stanya Janana (milk-promoting). Because the herbs are processed and digested by the mother, they generally do not cause adverse side effects in the infant. In fact, by improving the mother’s digestion (Agni), it helps prevent the baby from developing colic or gas through the breast milk. For postnatal care and healthy lactation, the following protocol is standard: Medicine: 1. Balantharishtam Dose: 15 to 25 ml mixed with an equal quantity of lukewarm water. Timing: Take twice daily, approximately 30 minutes after meals. While rare, if you notice the baby becoming unusually fussy, developing a rash, or having frequent loose stools, pause the medicine and consult your Vaidya. Ensure you are consuming a Sattvic diet with ghee and warm foods to complement the herbal tonic. If you had a Cesarean section or have high blood pressure, always confirm with your primary physician before starting fermented preparations (Arishtams).
