Acrodermatitis continua (a chronic pustular psoriasis variant) for 20 years means this is a deep-rooted, autoimmune-type condition, so expecting a quick cure is not realistic—but Ayurveda can help reduce flare-ups and slow progression. First understand: Long-term steroid use often gives temporary relief but can rebound and worsen sensitivity over time. Focus should be on: immune modulation + inflammation control + skin healing What to do: Avoid triggers: Stress, excessive spicy/sour food Chemical exposure, detergents on hands Keep the thumb protected and moisturized. At home: Apply plain coconut oil or ghee to reduce dryness and irritation. Internal medicines: Kaishore Guggulu – 1 tablet twice daily Gandhak Rasayan – 1 tablet twice daily Mahamanjishtadi kwath – 15 ml twice daily These help in reducing inflammation and improving skin response gradually. If digestion is not strong: Avipattikar churna – ½ teaspoon at night Important: Improvement will be slow (2–4 months) and requires consistency. Also, try to gradually reduce steroid dependence under medical supervision. If possible, periodic follow-up with a dermatologist is also advisable. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)
1.Kaishore guggulu 2 tab twice daily with water after meals 2.Gandhak rasayn 2 tab twice daily with water after meals 3.Panchatikta ghrita guggulu 1 tab twice daily with water after meals 4.Mahamanjisthadi kwath 20 ml with 20 ml water twice daily after meals External Management---- Since the area is restricted to the right thumb, targeted local therapy is essential: *Panchavalkala Kwath Wash: Boil Panchavalkala powder (or a mix of Neem and Triphala) in water, let it cool, and soak your thumb for 10 minutes daily. This helps dry out pustules and disinfects the distal nail area. *Jatyadi Tailam: This is a miraculous healing oil for chronic wounds and skin conditions. Apply it generously to the thumb and nail bed twice a day. *Maha Marichyadi Taila: If the skin is very thick or itchy, this oil can be used to penetrate deeper layers. The “Shodhana” (Detox) Requirement---- For a condition lasting 20 years, oral medicines alone may not be enough. I strongly recommend undergoing Panchakarma under professional supervision: *Virechana (Therapeutic Purgation): This is the best treatment for Pitta-related skin disorders. It cleanses the liver and small intestine, often providing relief when topical treatments fail. *Raktamokshana (Leech Therapy): Specifically for localized ACH on the thumb, Jalaukavacharana (Leech therapy) is highly effective. Leeches extract the “vitiated” blood and release enzymes that reduce inflammation and improve local circulation. Dietary & Lifestyle Restrictions (Pathya-Apathya)— You must strictly follow these for at least 3 months: *Strictly Avoid: Salt (reduce it significantly), sour foods (curd, lemon, pickles, vinegar), fermented foods, and spicy chilies. *Include: Bitter gourds (Karela), Neem leaves, Amla, and Ghee. *Stress Management: Psoriasis variants like ACH are often triggered by stress. Practice Pranayama daily.
Hello, Acrodermatitis continua of Hallopeau (ACH) is recognized in Ayurveda as a chronic, localized form of Kushtha (skin disease), specifically involving Vatarakta (vascular/inflammatory involvement) and Kshudra Kushtha. After 20 years, the condition is considered Majja-gata (deeply seated in the tissues), where chronic inflammation and “Pitta-Kapha” toxins have affected the nail bed and bone. The persistent pustulation and skin atrophy indicate a severe imbalance of Pitta (heat/inflammation) and Rakta (blood), with Vata causing the chronic, recurring nature. Since steroids have failed, the goal is “Rakta Shodhana” (blood purification) and “Klesha Shamana” (reducing the localized discharge and skin thickening). Medicines 1. Guggulutiktaka Kwath: 15 ml mixed with 45 ml lukewarm water, twice daily on an empty stomach. (Targets deep-seated inflammation and bone-level pathology). 2. Manjishtadi Kwath: 15 ml mixed with 45 ml lukewarm water, twice daily before food. (Potent blood purifier). 3. Kaishore Guggulu: 2 tablets twice daily after food with warm water. (Specific for Vatarakta and chronic skin lesions). 4. Psoria oil : Apply liberally over the entire thumb 30 minutes before bathing. 5. Jatyadi Keram: Apply at bedtime and cover with a light gauze. (Promotes healing of the distal nail bed and prevents secondary infection).
