In Ayurveda, food preparation affects its guna (qualities) and digestion (Agni). Not rinsing barley can create subtle imbalances. 🔹 If barley is not rinsed May retain dust, impurities, and excess starch Becomes slightly guru (heavy) and ruksha (dry) in a rough way Can lead to: Agnimandya (weak digestion) Ama formation (toxins) Bloating or heaviness 🔹 When combined with lemon + honey Barley is ruksha (drying) & sheeta (cooling) Lemon is amla (sour), increases Pitta Honey is yogavahi (enhances effect), scraping (lekha. If barley is unclean/unrinsed: The combination may: Irritate gut slightly Reduce proper absorption Increase chances of Ama formation Always wash barley 2–3 times before cooking Cook properly to make it laghu (light to digest) Use lemon + honey only when digestion is good
