Since your throat tissue is taking time to heal despite using slippery elm, DGL, aloe vera, PPIs, enzymes, and probiotics, it’s essential to focus on soothing, repairing, and protecting the damaged tissue. Eat soft, non-irritating foods like khichdi, oatmeal, and boiled vegetables. Drink warm water with a pinch of baking soda to neutralize acid. Avoid spicy, citrus, fried, and processed foods that worsen inflammation. Have small, frequent meals instead of large portions to reduce acid production. Sleep with your head elevated to prevent acid from reaching the throat. Avoid lying down for at least 3 hours after eating. Chew food properly Practice cooling pranayama like Sheetali & Anulom Vilom to ease acid reflux.

Seems like you’ve been dealing with quite a troublesome throat issue. Based on your symptoms and the interventions you’ve already explored, it appears that your vata and pitta doshas may be aggravated. Acid reflux, or what you’re referring to, often connects to pitta imbalance which causes heat and inflammation. Similarly, throat tissue damage and its slow healing might indicate vata imbalance, showing dryness and irritation.

In Ayurveda, healing is about bringing balance back, so let’s consider diving a bit deeper. Digestive fire, or agni, plays a crucial role here. Enhancing your agni can support better digestion and reduce reflux symptoms. Try including ginger tea in your routine, but in moderation given the pitta aspect. Grate a little fresh ginger and boil in water for five minutes; sip it cool after meals.

For the throat, licorice (mulethi in Hindi) can be soothing but in moderation as well—overconsumption may disturb other doshas. Look for licorice lozenges or a mild tea, but perhaps limit to one cup a day.Preparing a decoction of Yashtimadhu (licorice) powder with water and using it as a gargle might help soothe inflammation.

As for diet, focus on pitta-pacifying foods which are cooling and less spicy. Incorporate foods like fresh coriander, cucumber, juicy ripe fruits, and white rice. Avoid fried, spicy, and sour foods, as well as caffeine and alcohol.

Ensure you’re chewing your food thoroughly; this simple step can dramatically affect digestion. Drinking a small amount of room temperature or warm water—no cold drinks—as you eat can also be helpful.

Try practicing gentle yoga poses, like the Matsyasana (Fish Pose) which is known to support throat and digestive health. Ensure you’re also getting adequate rest, as stress can exacerbate reflux symptoms.

If the pain persists or worsens, it’s crucial you speak with a healthcare provider to rule out any other underlying conditions. These approaches can complement your existing treatments and hopefully help move along the healing process. Take care, and remember healing takes time.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
