Dealing with a persistent post-nasal drip and that feeling of a lump in the throat can be quite bothersome. Your symptoms suggest an imbalance in the Kapha dosha, which can cause mucous accumulation, especially affecting the respiratory tract. This, coupled with the Vata imbalances potentially linked to your rheumatoid arthritis, makes it even more complex.

First off, let’s talk about how to alleviate the post-nasal drip. Consider using a neti pot with lukewarm saline water to gently clear the nasal passages. This can be done daily, preferably in the morning, to start your day with clear sinuses. Just make sure the saline is neither too strong nor too weak; you’re aiming for a balanced sensation.

Additionally, drinking warm fluids, like ginger tea with a touch of honey, can help in liquefying the thick mucus and soothing your sore throat. Try not to consume cold drinks or foods that might increase Kapha, such as dairy products or unripe fruits.

For the sensation of a lump in the throat, often associated with a form of tension or constriction which may be related to Vata, a gentle neck massage using warm sesame oil might be beneficial. This can help in relaxing the muscles and easing discomfort. Also, practice deep-breathing exercises to relieve stress that may exacerbate this feeling.

Your recurring eye infection could point to an underlying Pitta imbalance. Applying a simple triphala eyewash (filtered properly after boiling triphala churna in water) can help in soothing the eyes. Do this lightly, and more importantly, ensure hygiene to avoid further irritation.

Since you are on immune-suppressants and dealing with rheumatoid arthritis, it’s crucial to work closely with your healthcare provider. Consider Ayurvedic therapies that support digestive health like Trikatu churna, which can enhance Agni or digestive fire, aiding in overall better health. However, make sure to consult with your primary healthcare provider before introducing any new treatments to avoid interactions with your current medications.

Remember to include regular light exercises or yoga in your routine, as movement helps in stabilizing both Vata and Kapha. Prioritize warm, cooked meals over raw, cold, or processed foods to keep your digestion optimal and support your body’s natural healing processes. Patient, practical steps can bring relief, but always align them with ongoing medical treatments to ensure comprehensive care.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
