The issue you’re dealing with is a common concern tied to nasal congestion, possibly exacerbated by environmental factors like dust. In Ayurveda, such a problem can often be linked to an imbalance in the Kapha dosha, which can lead to mucus buildup and congestion, especially around nighttime.

To begin addressing this, first consider making some diet modifications that help pacify the Kapha. Reduce heavy, oily, and cold foods which can contribute to increase in Kapha. Aim to include more warming, easily digestible meals, with an emphasis on spices like ginger, black pepper, and turmeric, which help in clearing congestion. Sipping warm ginger tea before bedtime may also offer some relief.

Next, you might want to think about incorporating a nasal rinse or Neti pot practice into your routine — done carefully, this can help in clearing out your nasal passages of allergens or irritants, dust included, before sleep. Just make sure the water you use is distilled or boiled, and at a comfortable temperature.

For an evening routine, add practices like Nasya, applying a few drops of warm sesame oil or Anu Tailam into each nostril. It’s best performed after a slight warm steam inhalation to help open up nasal passages. This helps lubricate the channels and might make breathing easier at night.

Additionally, environmental factors are crucial. Ensure your sleeping area is dust-free — regular cleaning and using an air purifier at night may be beneficial. Also, avoid heavy meals or eating too close to bedtime, and elevate your pillow to reduce nasal blockages while you sleep.

Oftentimes blockage can be caused or aggravated by dry air, so a humidifier might be useful to keeps the air moist, particularly in dry regions or seasons. This can help in preventing your nasal passages from drying out further and causing congestion.

If these steps do not show improvement or the symptoms worsen, it would be advisable to consult with a healthcare professional for further evaluation to rule out specific conditions like nasal polyps or chronic sinusitis that might require more targeted interventions.
