The sound in your left ear, which is likely related to vata imbalance, can be caused by an excess of air and space elements in the body, leading to dryness or tension in the ear canal. In Ayurveda, this condition is known as "Karna Vedana" or tinnitus, often associated with vata dosha disturbances. Since the sound is more pronounced in closed spaces or while sleeping, it could also be linked to stress or the environmental factors affecting your vata. To help balance vata, I recommend using warm sesame oil for a gentle ear massage and considering nasal oil drops like Anu Taila before bed to soothe the senses. You may also benefit from a diet rich in grounding, warm foods like soups, stews, and ghee, and avoid excessive cold or dry foods. Herbal remedies such as Brahmi, Ashwagandha, and Triphala can help calm the nervous system and promote overall balance. Practicing deep breathing exercises and yoga may also help in managing vata-related symptoms. If the issue persists, a more detailed evaluation of your dosha imbalances might be needed.

Ear ringing or that buzzing sound can be pretty common, especially if you got a "vat" or vata imbalance. In Ayurveda, vata dosha governs movement and it's responsible for the flow of sensory things, including what you're experiencing in your ear. Let's see, eh, what can be maybe going on and how to kinda calm this. First off, it's a positive that your ENT found nothing serious, so it seems the focus would be on managing that vata. Stress, irregular routines, excess physical/mental activity could easily aggravate vata. Since you do counseling work, if you're spending lots of time thinking, talking, that can stir vata too. Try grounding foods like... warm soups, stews, cooked veggies - these are vata pacifiers. Throw in some spices like cumin or ginger. Avoid too much raw and cold foods, they tend to aggravate vata. Also, stick to regular mealtimes. In terms of lifestyle, maybe a grounding evening routine might help. Gentle yoga or meditation before bed helps in settling vata. Create a cozy sleep environment, maybe using some essential oils like lavender (but not right in your ear), more like a mist around your pillow. If you're open to abhyanga (oil massage), sesame oil is fantastic for vata. Do a gentle massage over body before shower, it can be calming. You could also try Nasya, putting 2-3 drops of warm sesame oil in your nostrils daily - not if you've sinus issues though. Hydration is important too, maybe sip warm herbal teas throughout the day. And, don't forget to take moments to just breathe easy, working in some downtime. Sounds like you're not too disturbed during sleep but just in case, soft music or white noise can help mask that ear sound. If it becomes intrusive, it might be a conversation worth having with an Ayurvedic practitioner for a more specific personalized approach. Remember, these are suggestions that fit Ayurveda, so listen to what feels right for you. If things change or get worse though, stay proactive and maybe recheck with the doctor.
