Hey there, great to hear you're interested in ayurvedic approaches to skincare! Let’s dive right in. About sunscreen, Ayurveda does have some neat stuff up its sleeve. Traditionally, ingredients like sesame oil or coconut oil have been used, both known for their mild protective effects against sun damage. Now, while it's not SPF 50 or anything, it provides some barrier and nourishment to your skin. You might want to mix a tiny bit of turmeric, 'cause it's anti-inflammatory and antioxidants-rich. Always patch test, though, to make sure it's all cool with your skin. Now, do you really need sunscreen? That's a bit tricky. Ayurveda tends more towards nourishing and balancing skin rather than creating superimposed barriers, but considering today’s aggressive sun exposure levels, combining modern SPF ideas with ayurvedic care ain't a bad thing. On those freckles, you might try using some sandalwood paste. It helps to even out skin tone since ancient times; apply a thin layer daily and leave it for 15 minutes before washing. Also, aloe vera – the fresh gel is so soothing and helpful in lightening pigmentation over time. Preventing sun damage? Wearing a hat when you're out walking or being under shade really helps. Eating good diet rich in antioxidants, like seasonal fruits and veggies, supports skin from within. For glowing skin, ayurveda says your skin reflects internal health. So, balance your doshas, especially Pitta, for radiant skin. Regularly drink water with a squeeze of lemon first thing in the morning! Up your healthy fats with ghee and seasonal veggies. Try a gentle exfoliating chickpea flour scrub once or twice weekly, just a pinch of milk or water added to the flour works, keeps dead skin cells away. Simple yoga and breathing exercises daily go a long way too. Good ol' Anulom Vilom to keep everything in harmony! Feel free to tweak as you need and always see what suits your skin best. Don’t rush, sometimes these natural ways take time but they're worth it. 🌿
