Blurred vision and watery eyes can be distressing especially when your job involves long hours in front of a computer. The first step is to understand that in Ayurveda, eyesight issues might be linked to a dosha imbalance, often Pitta, which could get aggravated due to the strain and heat generated by screens. Here are some Ayurvedic recommendations that might help:

First, focus on your diet. Incorporate foods that are cooling and pacify Pitta, like cucumbers, melons, and leafy greens. Reduce intake of spicy, sour, and salty foods, as they can increase Pitta dosha. Keep your body hydrated by sipping water throughout your day - this is essential for maintaining balance in your doshas.

Consider practicing eye exercises to ease strain. Every 20 minutes of screen time, take a break by looking at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds, known as the 20-20-20 rule. You can also try gently rolling your eyes in circular motions to enhance flexibility and reduce tension.

Triphala is renowned in Ayurveda for eye health. It may be beneficial to wash your eyes with a Triphala water rinse. Soak a teaspoon of Triphala powder in a glass of lukewarm water overnight, strain it in the morning and use the water to gently splash your eyes.

Ghee consumption can also support eye health. Taking a teaspoon of pure, organic ghee daily can nourish your system and help balance Pitta. Another effective remedy is to apply a drop of castor oil to your eyes before sleep; this might alleviate dryness and irritation.

Including Yoga and Pranayama in your routine can improve circulation and reduce stress on the eyes. Try incorporating poses like Trataka (candle gazing), which is particularly beneficial for enhancing vision.

Finally, ensure your workspace is ergonomically set to reduce eye strain. Adjust the lighting and screen brightness to a comfortable level, maintain a suitable distance from your screen, and ensure your posture supports a natural eye angle to the monitor.

These interventions should be practical and easy to follow. However, if your symptoms persist, it’s crucial to consult with an ophthalmologist to rule out any underlying health issues.
