Ah, I see your concern, it’s challenging as a parent to see your little one facing speech delays. In Ayurveda, we often look at such things holistically, trying to find the reason behind the issue. Let’s consider a few ayurvedic perspective here.

First, environment can impact a child’s ability to expand vocabulary. Creating a warm, nurturing atmosphere, with lots of verbal stimulation -like singing songs, telling stories, and reading picture books can help. And don’t be worried to involve the whole family in this effort! Everybody talking to him might help encourage more communication.

From an ayurvedic view, speech is connected to Vata dosha, which governs movement and communication. If there’s an imbalance here, it might contribute to delayed speech. Few simple things you can try at home.

You might consider introducing ghee into his diet - it’s nourishing for both mind n body. A small amount mixed with warm milk or on his food might be beneficial, if he can take it. Massaging the child’s body with warm sesame oil, especially his feet, might help balance Vata as well.

Pay attention to what he’s eating too. In ayurveda, we talk a lot about Agni, or digestve fire. Ensure he’s eating regular, balanced meals. Avoid too much dry or cold foods. Instead, warm, mushy and easy-to-digest meals could be more supportive.

Sometimes simple breathing exercises too can be helpful if they’re fun! Blowing bubbles or through a straw can be a gentle way to enhance vocal control.

But importantly, don’t overlook the value of seeking professional evaluation. It sounds like you’re very attentive already, and consulting with a pediatric speech therapist could give extra support. They’ll offer strategies tailored exactly for your boy.

Be patient - kids develop at their own pace and often surprise us! Keep focusing on creating a supportive and vibrant environment at home. If you have more questions, just drop by again!
