how to drink amla juice - #23751

Elizabeth

I am feeling really confused about how to drink amla juice for the best benefits! A few months ago, I started having some digestion issues, you know, bloating, and just feeling off. My friend suggested amla juice, saying it's super beneficial, but I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do. Like, do I drink it straight or mix it with something? I tried drinking it plain, but man, it's so sour! 🤯 Also, I heard that it’s good for skin and hair, but when is the right time to take it? Is morning better or maybe before bed? Ugh! I’ve read so many articles with different opinions about how to drink amla juice and how often. 3 times a day was one suggestion, but then I read another saying just once is enough. My head is spinning! I’m worried I might be missing out on something by not doing it right. Anyone can share their routine or best way how to drink amla juice properly? Thanks a ton!

Drinking amla juice can truly help improve digestion issues like bloating, and it’s indeed a great Ayurvedic remedy, but it’s understandable why you’re feeling overwhelmed with the mixed information out there. Amla, or Indian Gooseberry, is a powerful rejuvenator with numerous benefits for digestion, skin, and hair health. It strengthens & balances digestive fire or agni, and enhances nutrient absorption.

For digestion, it’s generally recommended to consume amla juice in the morning on an empty stomach. This timing can help maximize its digestive benefits, aiding in the alleviation of bloating. Start with about 20-30 ml of pure amla juice mixed with a glass of water. Yes, the taste can be challenging, I get it, right, but mixing it with water dilutes its sourness and makes it more palatable. Feel free to add a small amount of honey if you’re not diabetic, as it can lighten both taste and effectiveness.

If you’re considering using it for skin and hair benefits, a morning routine remains beneficial due to its high vitamin C content and antioxidant properties. Taking it on an empty stomach gives your body time to absorb the nutrients better throughout the day. However, some people find taking another small dose before dinner aids digestion while promoting restful sleep, but this might vary based on your personal constitution and needs.

As for frequency, sticking to once or twice a day usually suffices, ensuring it complements your daily routines without overwhelming your system. Remember, Ayurveda is about balance, and sometimes less is more.

Make sure to monitor how your body reacts and adjust accordingly. If you notice any discomfort or reaction, it may be necessary to consult an Ayurvedic physician to reassess your approach personalized to your Prakriti. Patience and consistency are key with herbal remedies.
