Hair fall, especially when coupled with itching and thinning along the forehead, can be quite distressing. It often indicates an imbalance in your doshas, particularly pitta. Let’s start by addressing the root causes through Siddha-Ayurvedic principles.
Diet plays a vital role. Begin with incorporating more cooling, hydrating foods to pacify pitta. This can include consuming more ghee, coconut water, and fresh, organic fruits and vegetables. Avoid spicy, fried foods and excessive caffeine as they might aggravate pitta, leading to more hair fall and itching.
A simple yet effective home remedy involves massaging your scalp with bhringraj oil. Massage gently, ideally before bed, so you let the oil soak in overnight. It’s believed to strengthen the hair roots and calm the scalp. Argan or coconut oil can also be helpful if bhringraj isn’t available.
Use a mild shampoo that’s free from harsh chemicals. Look for one that’s herbal, containing ingredients such as aloe vera, hibiscus, or amla. Avoid overly scented products and those with sulfates or parabens.
For internal support, you might consider taking Indian gooseberry (amla) powder daily. A teaspoon mixed in lukewarm water, taken once a day, can help nourish the hair from within.
Maintain head hygiene since residue build-up can worsen itching. Wash your hair every 2-3 days, or more frequently, depending on your activity level and scalp oiliness.
However, if these symptoms persist or worsen, consult a Siddha-Ayurvedic specialist or dermatologist to explore further treatment. Persistent scalp issues can sometimes indicate underlying problems that need targeted intervention. Prioritizing safety and taking professional guidance is key when conventional measures do not provide relief.
