For a 49-year-old woman with fibroids and adenomyosis, experiencing heavy bleeding and pain, Ayurveda can offer supportive approaches, particularly when integrated with conventional medical treatment. However, given the intensity of symptoms, ensure she is under the care of a qualified healthcare provider to monitor for anemia and other potential complications.

In ayurvedic perspective, balancing Pitta dosha is crucial due to the heavy bleeding, while also addressing Vata that can influence pain. Consider starting with dietary modifications like reducing spicy, oily, and processed foods which can aggravate Pitta. Cooling foods like cucumber, coconut water, and pomegranate may provide relief. Encourage her to incorporate more leafy greens, beets, and pumpkin in the diet, which are supportive for blood health.

For herbal support, Ashoka (Saraca indica) and Lodhra (Symplocos racemosa) could be beneficial due to their uterine tonic properties. Typically, standardized extracts of these herbs are available, usually recommended in dosage of about 1-2 grams per day. Consult an Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized dosage advice and formulations like Ashokarishta or Pushyanuga Churna.

Yoga and pranayama might help manage stress and regulate bleeding—consider gentle poses like Supta Baddha Konasana (Reclining Bound Angle Pose) and pranayama techniques like Anulom Vilom (Alternate Nostirl Breathing) to calm Vata and Pitta.

Monitor thyroid health closely, as thyroid imbalance can impact menstrual cycles. Regular consultation with an endocrinologist is key, potentially adjusting thyroid medication as needed.

In circumstances where concerns persist or his symptoms exacerbate, it’s imperative to seek further medical evaluation to explore treatments like hormonal therapy or surgical options such as myomectomy. Always keep the communication open between her Ayurvedic and conventional healthcare providers to ensure a coordinated and safe approach to treatment.

Given your mother’s symptoms and age, it’s crucial to address her condition through a comprehensive Siddha-Ayurvedic approach while also paying attention to any urgent medical needs. First and foremost, heavy bleeding and pelvic pain should not be overlooked. If the bleeding becomes unbearably severe or if there’s extreme pain, immediate consultation with her healthcare provider is necessary to rule out any complications or need for intervention.

For managing fibroids and endometriosis through Ayurveda, focusing on balancing the doshas, especially Vata and Pitta, can be helpful. Implementing dietary changes like incorporating foods that support hormonal balance and reduce inflammation is key. This may include increasing intake of cooked, warm foods like whole grains, lentils, and leafy greens while avoiding pungent spices and processed foods.

Herbs like Ashoka (Saraca indica) and Lodhra (Symplocos racemosa) are traditionally used in Siddha-Ayurveda to manage menstrual irregularities and to support uterus health. These should be taken under the guidance of a qualified practitioner to ensure safety, especially considering her thyroid condition.

Additionally, practice lifestyle changes that promote balance. Encourage regular gentle exercise such as walking or yoga, and stress management through meditation or deep breathing exercises. Abhyanga, or Ayurvedic self-oil massage, can also be beneficial in calming Vata and soothing pelvic discomfort.

It’s important to coordinate with her current medical treatments and not interrupt any ongoing medications. Keeping her thyroid levels stable is vital for overall health, as thyroid imbalances can also impact menstrual health. Always consult with her doctor before combining treatments to ensure there’s no contraindication with her thyroid medication.
