Planet Ayurveda Chandanadi Vati - #33756

Caleb

I am really confused about something and hoping someone here can help. I recently started using Planet Ayurveda Chandanadi Vati because I’ve been dealing with this persistent skin issue for months. Like, I had red patches and some itching, and nothing seemed to work! My dermatologist said it might be due to an imbalance, and mentioned something about how herbs can really help, so I thought I’d give this Chandanadi Vati a try. After using it for a couple of weeks, I felt like my skin was actually calming down a bit, but then I got this weird break out near my ears — not sure if it’s related or just a coincidence. I read somewhere that Chandanadi Vati could be good for detoxification, but now I’m wondering if it’s causing more problems than it's solving. I mean, is that even possible? Has anyone experienced similar things with Planet Ayurveda Chandanadi Vati? Like, does it take time to really kick in? I just want to make sure I'm on the right path. Any advice would be super helpful, thanks in advance! Oh, and should I be combining it with anything else for better results? Anxiety about putting more stuff on my skin has me worried!

Doctors' responses

Chandanadi Vati, renowned in traditional Ayurveda, is generally used for conditions involving Pitta and Vata doshas. It’s a classical formulation known for its cooling and calming effects, mainly due to the presence of Sandalwood (Chandan). Typically it is considered useful in managing skin issues like rash, itching, and redness by helping Pitta imbalances. The skin relief you experienced can be attributed to these cooling properties of Chandanadi Vati, which helps pacify the aggravated doshas causing your skin issues.

However, the break out near your ears is a bit tricky. It might be that the detoxifying action of the herbs is manifesting as a temporary ‘healing crisis’ — a concept in holistic healing where symptoms can sometimes worsen before they improve as the body expels toxins. But if the breakout persists or worsens, it’s crucial to consult with your Ayurvedic practitioner or dermatologist to ensure its not a sign of a more complicated reaction.

Consistency is key in Ayurveda, so continued, monitored use might be beneficial. However, combining Chandanadi Vati with other herbs or treatments should be done cautiously. For skin concerns, consider complementing it with a suitable diet — emphasize foods that cool the Pitta like cucumbers, melons, and leafy greens, and avoid processed foods and excessive spices.

Hydration is vital too, as keeping the body well-hydrated supports the skin’s detoxification processes. Gentle skin care with natural products and regular physical activity might also aid the detox process and improve skin resilience. Try to reduce stress as it can exacerbate skin issues; techniques like Pranayama and meditation could be helpful in maintaining emotional balance.

Always seek personalized advice from your healthcare provider, especially if other symptoms arise. And remember, ayurveda seeks balance, both internally and externally, so listen to your body and any signals it may be sending.
