how to remove dark circles under eyes - #35930

Aubrey

I am really stressed about these dark circles under my eyes that just won’t go away! Like, I’ve tried everything — creams, more sleep, even cucumber slices and nothing is helping. I mean, my job has me staring at a computer for hours, and this year, my stress levels have shot up (what with deadlines and all). I thought maybe I should try a more natural approach or something Ayurvedic? I’ve heard that ayurveda has some great remedies for how to remove dark circles under eyes. My aunt recommended some herbal teas and oils but I have no idea where to start. Sometimes I feel like it’s just getting worse, and I can’t believe how much it affects my confidence! Oh and, I have heard about some exercises but I’m not sure if they really work, like might they help? If anyone knows any simple, effective tips or remedies on how to remove dark circles under eyes, I’d be super grateful! Plz, anything that doesn’t involve spending a fortune on those fancy creams! Oh and does diet play a role too? Ugh, I just need some help, any guidance would be amazing!

First off, it’s important to remember these dark circles could be link to imbalances in your doshas, particularly Pitta and Vata, according to Ayurveda. The stressful lifestyle and lack of proper sleep definitely can aggravate these doshas, leading to dark circles. A more natural approach through Ayurveda might be the gentle solution you need.

One practical remedy is using an aloe vera gel or rose water – both of these are cooling and soothing, helping to calm aggravated Pitta. Apply a gentle coat of fresh aloe vera gel or rose water with a cotton pad over your undereyes and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes. Do this twice a day - morning and evening for better results.

Diet also plays a crucial role. Try consuming more iron-rich foods like spinach or lentils, as they help improve your blood circulation, which might be influencing the appearance of dark circles. Include foods that balance Pitta such as cooling foods - cucumber, cilantro and coconut water.

Stress indeed is a major contributor and addressing lifestyle factors is paramount. Yoga or meditation might just be what you need to help calm your mind. Even spending at least 15 minutes practicing deep breathing exercises can significantly reduce stress levels, thereby improving your sleep quality over time.

As for eye exercises, they can support general eye health. Try the palming technique: rub your palms together to generate heat and gently place them over your closed eyes. Practice this for about 5 minutes each day, it may help relieve eye strain from extended screen use.

Herbal teas, such as chamomile or a tea containing ashwagandha might help in reducing stress levels. As herbal supplements can vary individually, it would be best to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner before introducing any new supplements.

Remember, consistency is key with Ayurvedic practices, and these natural ways may take time to show results. Adjustments to lifestyle and diet over time will help lead to a noticeable change.

Let’s dive into addressing those persistent dark circles, especially given the context of your workload and stress levels. In Ayurveda, dark circles are often linked to imbalances in the Vata and Pitta doshas, stress, poor blood circulation, and lifestyle factors such as inadequate sleep and screen time.

First, let’s talk about some practical solutions you can try at home:

1. Diet: Nutrition plays a crucial role. To balance Vata and Pitta, incorporate warming, grounding foods. Think of cooked vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats like ghee. Avoid excessive caffeine and spicy or processed foods which can aggravate Pitta.

2. Herbal Teas: Sipping on tulsi or ashwagandha tea can help reduce stress and balance your doshas. You could incorporate these into your daily routine, ideally after meals.

3. Oil Application: Applying cooled almond oil or coconut oil gently around the eyes before bedtime can help. These oils are nourishing and can improve blood circulation. Leave it on overnight and wash it off in the morning.

4. Routine and Sleep: Establishing a consistent sleep routine is vital. Try to reduce screen time an hour before bed to help your mind relax. You might explore Yoga Nidra or meditation, which can address stress and improve sleep quality.

5. Exercise: Simple eye exercises can help. Gently rotate your eyes in circles, or focus on a distant object for a few minutes each day — this can help blood flow around the eyes.

6. Hydration: Make sure to drink enough water throughout the day; dehydration can make dark circles more prominent.

Keep in mind if these dark circles persist or if you notice any additional symptoms, consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner or healthcare professional for personalized assessment could be beneficial. Be kind to your body, and give these approaches a few weeks to observe changes.
