Managing hypothyroidism along with your other concerns is possible through a comprehensive approach. Your current medications are essential, but integrating Ayurvedic principles may offer you additional support. Start with your diet, which plays a crucial role in managing thyroid function and related issues. Favor warm, cooked foods over raw, cold ones. Include plenty of green leafy vegetables except cabbage and cauliflower, as they may interfere with thyroid function. Opt for whole grains like quinoa, millet, and brown rice. Cooked apples and pears help pacify vata dosha, beneficial for your dry skin and hair.

In terms of lifestyle, establish a regular daily routine with early bedtime and waking hours to balance your body’s natural rhythms, which can help alleviate stress. Start your mornings with a cup of warm water mixed with lemon and honey to boost digestion. Minimize caffeine and sugar gradually to reduce reliance and its impact on your hormones.

Herbal remedies might also be effective. Consider including Ashwagandha in your daily regimen; it’s known to support thyroid and adrenal function and can help reduce stress and improve energy levels. Triphala, taken in the morning or at night, can help enhance iron absorption and improve digestion.

Abhyanga, a daily self-massage with warm sesame oil, can nourish the skin and combat dryness. Use a gentle, natural shampoo to avoid further drying your hair, and apply coconut oil a few hours before washing.

With low hemoglobin levels, prioritize increasing your iron intake. Try to consume iron-rich foods like dates, pomegranate, and beetroot. Use a cast iron pan while cooking whenever possible as it may help increase iron levels in food.

Yoga and pranayama like Bhramari and Anulom Vilom can be helpful for reducing stress and improving mental clarity. These practices also improve circulation and can energize you.

Continually monitor your thyroid levels with your healthcare provider and adjust treatment as necessary. If your iron levels remain critically low, seek medical advice immediately, as this requires urgent attention. Balancing these areas will work to gradually improve your overall health and well-being.

In addressing hypothyroidism, particularly with a dosage like 125 mcg of levothyroxine, it’s essential not to replace or stop your current medication without consulting your physician. However, Ayurveda can provide complementary support, focusing on balancing doshas and improving your overall well-being.

Firstly, diet plays a crucial role. Incorporate foods that are natural sources of iodine, like sea vegetables (e.g., kelp) but do so in moderation. It’s key to balance your intake to not interfere with your existing thyroid treatment. Add spices like turmeric and ginger, which help improve metabolism and combat inflammation, possibly helping the ezcema. Minimize foods that increase kapha, such as dairy and overly processed or oily foods.

For stress management, consider incorporating daily practices of pranayama — breathing exercises that calm the nervous system and may reduce brain fog and stress. The Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) can be done for about 10 minutes daily to help balance your inner energies and improve clarity.

Addressing low iron, it’s crucial with such low levels (hb at 4 is critically low), you should seek immediate medical treatment to address anemia. Foods like lentils, spinach, and sesame seeds can support iron levels, but in conjunction with treatments your doctor prescribes or recommends.

To reduce caffeine and sugar cravings, slowly integrate warm herbal teas like tulsi (holy basil) or ashwagandha to help reduce stress and stabilize energy levels. Gradually replace sugary snacks with fruits like amla or berries, which have a moderate effect on blood sugar and provide antioxidants.

Lastly, practice abhyanga (self-massage with warm sesame oil) a couple of times a week to nourish and hydrate your dry skin and hair.

It’s vital to work closely with healthcare providers for a balanced approach, particularly regarding anemia and the potential necessity for rapid interventions if your hemoglobin is drastically low. Always prioritize medical advice where conditions appear critical.
