why my hair falling too much - #37557

Luke

I am trying to figure out this hair situation I'm dealing with. For the past couple of months, I’ve noticed why my hair falling too much. Like, it’s getting really concerning. One day I was just brushing my hair and, OMG, I had so much in my hands it was like I'd just shed a small animal! 😱 I’m not usually one to freak out over stuff, but this is different. I honestly can’t remember ever losing this much hair before. I thought maybe it was just stress? You know, life stuff like work and family stuff and all that jazz. But then I'm like, is it the weather? Just last week I tried a new shampoo, and now I’m doubting if that’s why my hair falling too much all of a sudden... ugh! 😩 I read a little about hair oils and natural remedies – like maybe I should be using something like a herbal mix? I also had some blood tests done recently for other stuff, and everything came back fine, which just adds to my confusion. Anyone else dealt with a similar situation? What do you think is going on here? I'm open to trying natural remedies or whatever Ayurvedic options could help. Why my hair falling too much? Any thoughts or advice would be super appreciated!

Understanding hair fall involves looking at various factors in your life, combining both external and internal aspects. In Ayurveda, hair loss is often linked to imbalances in the body, particularly concerning doshas—mainly, Pitta dosha. This doesn’t rule out your environmental factors, stress or a reaction to that new shampoo either.

Stress and lifestyle, such as irregular sleeping patterns, late night endeavors, or excessive consumption of spicy, oily, or acidic foods contribute to Pitta imbalance, which could lead to hair loss. Consider reviewing your diet to include cooling, soothing foods like cucumbers, leafy greens, and melons, which can help pacify Pitta. Also, intentionly hydrate yourself well with water, coconut water, and herbal tea.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, incorporating hair oils can be beneficial. Applying oils like Bhringraj oil or Amla oil directly to your scalp might nourish your hair roots and provide essential nutrients to support healthy hair growth. Massage your scalp gently with any of these oils 2 to 3 times a week, leaving it on for at least an hour before washing your hair.

Pay attention to the kind of products you use. Sometimes chemicals in shampoos or hair treatments can sensitize the scalp and lead to hair fall. Opt for natural, herbal shampoos and conditioners free from harsh chemicals.

Since you mentioned you’ve had blood tests that came out fine, it’s less likely a nutritional deficiency but re-confirming your daily allowance for vitamins and minerals like B vitamins, Vitamin D, Iron, and Zinc might still be beneficial. Sometimes the mismanagement of these nutrients could also lead to hair fall.

As an immediate measure, practice good stress management techniques. Engage in activities that calm the mind, such as yoga, meditation or, even deep breathing exercises. Stress management is crucial—it not only balances your mind, but also aids in normalizing any imbalances in the body, including doshas, helping mitigating hair fall caused due to stress.

Consistency is key with natural remedies. These practices may take some time to show results, but their holistic approach works in nurturing the roots and creates a balance from within. If your hair fall persists or worsens, it would be best to consult with an Ayurvedic practioner or a dermatologist who might help you delve deeper into the unique causes and find a solution.

Hair fall can undoubtedly be alarming, especially when it feels like it’s more than usual. Several factors can contribute to excessive hair fall, and understanding these through the lens of Siddha-Ayurvedic principles could be helpful. In Ayurvedic terms, hair fall is often linked to an imbalance in the doshas - particularly Pitta dosha, which governs heat and metabolism within your body. Stress, improper diet, lack of sleep, and even certain lifestyle habits can aggravate Pitta, leading to hair issues. The report from your blood tests seeming fine suggests a non-medical root cause, which Ayurveda is well-equipped to address.

In your case, start by calming the Pitta dosha. This involves simple steps such as cooling your body internally and externally. Include foods with a cooling effect in your diet - like cucumbers, melons, and leafy greens - and stay hydrated with water and herbal teas. Coconut oil is beneficial due to its cooling properties; gently massage your scalp with warm coconut oil before washing your hair. If you’re up for it, using Brahmi or Bhringraj oil, known for promoting hair growth, can be very beneficial.

Managing stress is another angle to tackle here. Incorporate a daily routine of meditation or yoga to reduce stress levels, which can unwittingly lead to hair fall. Ensure you’re getting 7-8 hours of quality sleep as this too balances the body’s internal doshas. Try to avoid chemical-laden products as much as possible, which aggravates both Pitta and Vata, leading to hair loss.

Since you’ve also changed your shampoo recently, observ anything different about your scalp or hair texture after using it. While adapting new products, a negative reaction or just an imbalance occurs can aggravate conditions. You might need to stop using it if it seems to coincide with increased hair fall.

Lastly, assess your nutrition intake - ensuring you’re receiving essential vitamins and minerals like iron, zinc, and vitamin E can improve hair health. Consider adding amla (Indian gooseberry) into your diet, which is a well-known Pitta pacifier and great for strengthening hair from within.

If hair loss persists despite these measures, it might indeed be worth seeking a consultation to dig deeper into any hidden imbalances or deficiencies. Working with a trained practitioner can provide you personalized guidance based on your body’s particular nuances.
