when to take shilajit - #42659

John

I am struggling a bit with knowing when to take shilajit. I started taking it a few weeks ago after reading all these amazing benefits, you know? I thought it might help with my energy levels because I’ve been feeling super tired. Like, I wake up and just feel drained, even if I’ve slept enough. My Ayurvedic friend suggested shilajit and said it could be a game changer. But here’s the thing — I’m not really sure about the timing. Should I take shilajit in the morning? Or is it better to take it at night? I sometimes mix it into my morning tea, but I read somewhere that it’s best absorbed on an empty stomach, which made me wonder if I’m doing it all wrong. And if I do take it with food, like breakfast, will it still work? I thought I felt a little difference at first, like maybe a smidge more energy, but then I kinda slipped back to just being blah again after a few days?? Maybe I’m not taking it at the right time or dosage? It’s confusing and I just really wanna make sure I’m using shilajit correctly to feel better! Any advice would be super apreciated!

Taking shilajit for energy is a great choice, but timing and method can definitely influence its effectiveness. Shilajit is traditionally recommended to be taken in the morning on an empty stomach. This is because it’s typically most effective when it can be absorbed directly, without the interference of other foods or drinks. If your stomach tolerates it well, try this method for a couple of weeks: mix a small portion of shilajit (usually a pea-sized amount if it’s in resin form or as instructed on the product if it’s in capsule form) in warm water and drink it first thing in the morning.

When taken on an empty stomach, shilajit can optimize the body’s absorption of fulvic acid and minerals — boosting energy levels and enhancing overall vitality. If taking it alone feels too strong initially or causes any discomfort, it’s fine to have it with a light breakfast for a short period. Ensure your breakfast is sattvic (mild and nourishing) with foods like fresh fruits or whole grains, which supports digestion and overall dosha balance.

Consistency is key with Ayurvedic herbs, so ensure you take it consistently for several weeks to gauge its full benefits. If after two to three weeks, energy levels don’t seem to improve, it might be worth considering other lifestyle aspects like diet and sleep hygiene, or even revisiting your constitutional dosha balance with an Ayurvedic practitioner.

Avoid taking shilajit late in the day or at night as it can be overly stimulating and might affect sleep quality. Regarding dosage, stick to what’s recommended on the packaging, unless advised otherwise by a healthcare professional familiar with your individual circumstances.

On top of shilajit, look into improving your sleep quality and nutritional intake, focusing on a balanced diet that supports your specific dosha. Incorporate yoga or light exercise into your daily routine to help combat fatigue too. If fatigue persists despite these measures, consider consulting with a healthcare professional to rule out other causes.

Taking shilajit can indeed be beneficial for increasing energy and reducing fatigue, but getting the timing and method right is crucial. Typically, shilajit is most effectively absorbed when taken on an empty stomach. This means early in the morning is an ideal time, preferably before breakfast. When taken this way, shilajit can help kickstart your day by enhancing energy levels and mental clarity.

Mixing shilajit into your tea is alright as long as you’re consistent with taking it before you consume other meals. Just be sure your tea isn’t too hot, as extreme heat could potentially reduce shilajit’s efficacy. Aim instead for lukewarm or room temperature beverages. If mornings aren’t preferable, an alternative is taking it in the late afternoon, but ensure there’s a gap of at least 2 hours since your last meal.

Regarding dosage, start with a small, pea-sized amount, and observe its effects for a few days. Your friend’s advice about shilajit being a “game changer” can hold true, but it’s often dependent on individual factors like your body constitution, lifestyle, and any underlying imbalances. Don’t expect an immediate, drastic change; Ayurveda works subtly and synergistically over time to restore balance.

If you continue to feel fatigued despite these adjustments, it could be beneficial to explore other potential causes, such as dietary habits, sleep quality, or stress levels. In some cases, speaking with an Ayurvedic practitioner or healthcare provider about your continued tiredness might be useful to rule out other underlying issues. Ensure that you drink plenty of water, as shilajit has a detoxifying effect, and staying hydrated aids its assimilation.
