I am a 28 year old female suffering from lichen planus from 2023. Have a large numbers of brown and grey macules over neck , face stomach and hands . I tried different method of medication but nothing works.

In Ayurveda, lichen planus may be understood as a disorder due to vitiation of pitta and vata doshas leading to skin complications. Addressing the root cause involves balancing these doshas and strengthening the dhatus. Initially, it’s vital to follow a pitta and vata-pacifying diet. This means focusing on cooling, soothing and unctuous foods. Incorporate ghee, milk, and ripe, sweet fruits like figs and dates. Avoid spicy, sour, and fermented foods which can aggravate your condition. Ensure that your meals are consistent and regular, avoiding long gaps.

Herbal treatment can support in managing the symptoms. Turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Mixing turmeric powder with milk can be consumed daily. A simple yet effective home remedy is applying a paste of neem leaves on the affected areas, known for its antimicrobial and healing properties. Take care to avoid over-drying of skin. A few drops of coconut oil can be gently massaged into the skin in morning and evening, which helps nourish and restore equilibrium.

Stress plays a crucial role in skin conditions like lichen planus. Incorporating Yogic practices such as meditation and pranayama, particularly anulom-vilom, can help in reducing stress levels. Performing gentle asanas, especially those that promote circulation and relaxation like Bhujangasana (cobra pose), are beneficial.

Additionally, ensure you stay hydrated and prioritize rest. Sleep is a cornerstone of healing - rejuvenate with at least 7-8 hrs of restful sleep. Herbal supplements like Ashwagandha may be considered under supervision. However, if your symptoms are worsening, seeking professional medical advice timely is essential. Regular follow-up with an Ayurvedic practitioner can help tailor treatment best to your current body state.
