Issues with a blocked nose and ear due to what seems to be sinus problems can indeed be persistent and problematic, especially over a duration like six months. These symptoms might indicate Kapha dosha imbalance, which often leads to the accumulation of mucus and phlegm. Here’s a detailed plan using Ayurvedic principles:
1. Nasya Karma: This is an Ayurvedic therapy involving the administration of herbal oils through the nostrils. For sinus-related blockages, Anu Taila is traditionally recommended. Administer 2-3 drops in each nostril in a relaxed position and gently inhale. Do this twice a day, morning and evening, preferably on an empty stomach.
2. Steam Inhalation: Adding a few drops of eucalyptus oil or camphor to steaming water can greatly alleviate congestion. Inhale the steam for 5-10 minutes. This helps loosen the mucus in the sinuses and provides relief.
3. Herbal Teas: Consume warm teas made with ginger, tulsi (holy basil), and black pepper. These herbs help reduce Kapha and are excellent for clearing blocked nasal passages. Drink this tea 2-3 times a day.
4. Trikatu Powder: Consisting of ginger, black pepper, and long pepper, this powder is effective in stimulating digestion and reducing Kapha accumulation. Take 1 tsp mixed with honey twice a day after meals.
5. Pranayama and Yoga: Practices like Kapalabhati and Anulom Vilom support respiratory function and help clear blockages. Spend 10-15 minutes daily on these breathing exercises.
6. Diet Recommendations: Minimize cold and heavy foods such as dairy and sweets. Opt for light, warm, and easily digestible meals. Incorporate spices like turmeric, cumin, and coriander in your daily diet.
If these remedies do not provide relief or symptoms worsen, please consult an Ayurveda practitioner for tailored advice or consider a medical evaluation to rule out other causes of sinus issues. Always ensure any routine complements any conventional treatments you may be undergoing.
