Doctors' responses
Your symptoms suggest an imbalance that might relate to Kapha dosha, particularly since issues like excess mucus, nasal congestion, and a blocked ear often coincide with Kapha predominance. It’s positive that eliminating dietary triggers like milk, curd, and beef improved your skin condition, indicating your body’s responsiveness to dietary changes.
To address the nasal and ear discomfort, try incorporating these Ayurvedic strategies focusing on Kapha pacification and clearing excess mucus:
1. Diet: Continue avoiding dairy and cold foods, as they can exacerbate Kapha. Opt for warm, light meals, and include spices like ginger, turmeric, and black pepper to stimulate your digestion (Agni) and clear mucus. Steer clear of heavy, fried foods that may contribute to congestion.
2. Nasya therapy: This involves the application of medicated oils in the nasal passages, which can support sinus health. You might use Anu Taila, applying 2-3 drops in each nostril in the morning. Lie down with your head tilted back, letting the oil enter the passages. This may help relieve nasal congestion and subtly benefit ear health.
3. Pranayama: Practice gentle breathing exercises such as Anulom Vilom (alternate nostril breathing) to support respiratory health and maintain energy balance. Execute this practice daily in a calm setting, prefereably after sunrise or before sunset.
4. Warm steam inhalation: Conduct a steam inhalation session using water with a pinch of turmeric or eucalyptus oil added. Do this once daily, preferably in the evening to help loosen and clear mucus before bed.
5. Lifestyle: Engage in regular, moderate exercise to stimulate metabolic processes and reduce Kapha. Walking or yoga poses focusing on opening the chest like Bhujangasana (cobra pose) may benefit congestion.
If symptoms persist or worsen, pursue further consultation with healthcare to investigate any underlying conditions needing attention and ensure no structural issues are adversely affecting your nasal passages or ear. Prioritize caution in ensuring this approach works together with any treatments advised by your ENT specialist.
