how to weight loss after delivery - #44555
I am really trying to figure out how to weight loss after delivery. I gave birth about 3 months ago and honestly, my body has changed so much. I was super active before pregnancy, but now I just feel sluggish and like nothing fits me right. It’s like my belly is taking forever to go back, and I’ve tried a few diets but they don’t seem to work. I’ve read some stuff about Ayurvedic approaches and how to weight loss after delivery naturally, but I don’t really know where to start. I get so overwhelmed! Should I be focusing more on herbs or certain foods? Like, I heard ghee is good but also read that I should watch my fat intake? Confusing!!! I’ve been doing some light yoga and taking walks with the baby, which I really enjoy, but the scale just isn’t budging. Some of my friends say breastfeeding helps with weight loss after delivery, but I feel like that's not happening for me. I worry that I'm not eating right to support my milk production either. Anyone have tips on how to weight loss after delivery without sacrificing my energy levels? I need some real, practical advice here!

After delivery, weight loss can indeed feel overwhelming but there’s a coherent Ayurvedic approach that could help. It’s important to balance desire for weight loss with nourishing both you and the baby, especially if you’re breastfeeding. One key aspect of Ayurveda is focusing on digestion or ‘agni’. Postpartum, agni may be weaker, leading to sluggishness.
You want to start by rejuvenating digestive fire. Try sipping warm water with a squeeze of lemon and a pinch of ginger in the morning to stimulate agni. Ayurveda considers digestion crucial - poorly processed foods can lead to ‘ama’, or toxins, contributing to weight gain. Pay attention to your diet; focus on warm, light, and easy-to-digest food. Khichadi, a mixture of rice and lentils, can be your staple - it’s nourishing and gentle on digestion.
Since you’re exercising please continue with your yoga and walks, which supports both physical health and mental well-being. Yoga poses like Bhujangasana (Cobra pose) and Balasana (Child’s pose) are particularly good - they are calming and gently strengthen core muscles. Begin include lighter strength exercises to improve muscle tone and boost metabolism, but ensure you listen to your body’s recovery needs.
With herbs, helpful ones are triphala or fenugreek. Triphala helps eliminate ama while balancing doshas; take 1 tsp with warm water before bed. Fenugreek can support lactation and metabolism - you could make tea with it or add seeds to your meals sparingly.
Ghee is great; Ayurveda sees it as a nourishing but wisely used alongside active lifestyle. More a spoon a day, or used in cooking, won’t counteract your weight loss efforts.
If you’re breastfeeding, you may find that despite friends’ advice, everyone’s experience differs. Ensure you’re eating enough caloric intake to support milk production; under-eating can actually stall weight loss and compromise energy levels. Focusing on a veggies, whole grains and lean proteins will be ensure nutritional needs being met without overeating.
Lastly, stay hydrated and favor eating until you are satisfy, not full. Take time for meals and chew carefully. Weight loss postpartum isn’t rapid, patience and consistent routines tend to yield best result without compromising health or energy.
