Addressing hair regrowth and greying in perimenopause, Ayurveda suggests balancing the doshas, particularly Vata and Pitta, which when imbalanced, affect hair and skin health. Begin by adding nourishing rasayana herbs, like Amla and Brahmi, known to promote hair health. Take Amla powder or capsule daily. Brahmi, in oil form, can be massaged into the scalp twice a week. This stimulates hair follicles and strengthens roots.
Regarding greying, Bhringraj (Eclipta alba) is particularly effective. You can use Bhringraj oil on the scalp 2-3 times a week and drink a decoction (prepared by boiling the fresh leaves) occasionally. Avoid processed foods and include fresh vegetables, nuts like almonds and walnuts, which nourish and promote melanin production.
Skin issues like wrinkles, reflect excess Vata, causing dryness. Abhyanga, an Ayurvedic oil massage, with sesame oil is beneficial. Do this 2-3 times a week followed by a warm bath to hydrate the skin. Regularly consume healthy fats, such as ghee or olive oil, to keep skin supple from the inside out.
For overall health enhancement, focus on seasonal routines (Ritucharya) and eat according to your constitution (Prakriti). Adapt a diet rich in seasonal fruits, whole grains, and herbs. Yoga and Pranayama help maintain hormonal balance and stress management. Practice calming Pranayama techniques like Anulom-Vilom daily.
Also, a decoction (tea) made from Ashwagandha can support your energy and vitality during perimenopause. Ensure a consistent routine, prioritize adequate rest, and practice mindfulness to enhance emotional balance. Stick with these strategies consistently; Ayurveda works best with persistent gentle regimes, adjusting with your body’s response over time.
