Vidhara root usually refers to Argyreia speciosa (Elephant creeper), known in Ayurveda as Vidhara or Vridhadaraka.

Traditionally, it is used as a rasayana (rejuvenative) for strength, vitality, and cognition.

However, it is not a primary herb for lowering blood sugar. Its main actions are on the nervous system, reproductive health, and as a tonic for fatigue and debility.

For blood sugar management, herbs like Gudmar (Gymnema sylvestre), Vijaysar (Pterocarpus marsupium), Daruharidra (Berberis aristata), and Triphala are more directly indicated.

That said, Vidhara can still be supportive for your TBI-related fatigue and cognitive function, while you use other herbs for blood sugar.

🌿 Vidhara Root (Argyreia speciosa) - Form: Powder (churna) or capsule. - Dosage: 3–5 g powder once daily, or 250–500 mg capsule. - Anupana (vehicle): Warm milk or ghee (for cognition and fatigue). - Benefits: Nervine tonic, improves strength, supports memory, reduces fatigue. - Caution: Limited evidence for direct hypoglycemic effect. Should be used as a supportive tonic, not as a primary anti-diabetic herb.

🌿 For Blood Sugar (to supplement oral hypoglycemics) - Gudmar (Gymnema sylvestre): 250–500 mg capsule with warm water. - Vijaysar (Pterocarpus marsupium): Overnight soaked tumbler water in morning. - Daruharidra (Berberis aristata): 250–500 mg extract with honey/warm water. - Triphala: 1–2 g powder at bedtime with warm water.

🧠 For Cognitive Function & Fatigue (TBI context) - Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri): 250–500 mg capsule with warm milk/ghee. - Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera): 3–6 g powder with warm milk. - Shankhpushpi (Convolvulus pluricaulis): 3–6 g powder with honey. - Mandukaparni (Gotu Kola): 250–500 mg capsule with warm water. - Vidhara root: 3–5 g powder with milk/ghee for strength and cognition.

Viharda root

Vidhara is not a replacement for diabetes medicine and is not necessary to control blood sugar.

After TBI you should hv to continue your diabetic medicine for brain proper function.

If u want to supplementation yourdiet , you can start with -

Gudmar → helps reduce sugar absorption and cravings Vijaysar → supports blood sugar balance Triphala → supports digestion and metabolism Fenugreek (Methi) → slows sugar absorption after meals

Can choose any one along with meal

Hello So, you’re aiming to keep your blood sugar in check and boost your brainpower naturally, right? Cool that you’re thinking of using herbs alongside your meds, good move not ditching them completely.

Let’s talk about Vidhara root (also known as Ipomoea digitata or Vriddhadaru).

In Ayurveda, it’s known to: –Help with diabetes –Boost strength, nerves, and memory –Nourish your nervous system

Basically, it’s a solid choice for both blood sugar and brain recovery.

How to take Vidhara for Blood Sugar:

Best Vidhara root powder

How much: ½ teaspoon (2–3 grams) twice a day

How: Mix it with warm water Take it half an hour before you eat

For Better Brain Function:

–For brain healing, take Vidhara with: –Warm milk before bed OR –A teaspoon of cow ghee

This can help with: –Memory –Focus –Fixing nerves –Mental tiredness

A Great Combo:

If you can, mix it with: Brahmi powder – ½ tsp Ashwagandha powder – ½ tsp

Take it at night with warm milk. It’s a classic mix for your nervous system.

Important—Be Careful with Diabetes Meds:

Since you’re already taking meds for blood sugar:

–Keep an eye on your blood sugar levels –Start with a small dose for the first few days –Don’t stop your regular meds without asking your doctor –Vidhara is generally safe, but it could make your meds stronger, which could drop your blood sugar too low if you take too much.

What to Eat:

Eat more of: –Warm, cooked foods –Ghee –Moong dal –Veggie soups –Soaked almonds (4–5)

Eat less of: –Cold foods –Sugar, baked goods –Staying up late –Too much screen time

When NOT to Use Vidhara:

Skip it if: –You have ongoing diarrhea –Your blood pressure is super low –You have serious kidney issues

Diabetes means too much Kapha + messed-up fat Brain stuff means Vata + worn-out nerves

Vidhara helps by: Healing tissues, nourishing nerves, and balancing your body

Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate
