Your daughter is having post infectious IBS symptoms which usually happen after food poisoning she has alternating diarrhea and constipation with urgency and incomplete evacuation this is mainly due to vata imbalance in the intestines with some pitta aggravation the colon becomes sensitive and digestive fire weakens leading to irregular bowel movements bloating and discomfort Ayurveda aims to restore agni improve bowel regulation and calm vata her diet should be warm cooked and easy to digest like khichdi moong dal soup porridge avoid raw salads fried spicy oily food and cold drinks she should sip warm water throughout the day have regular meal timings and avoid skipping meals gentle massage of abdomen with warm sesame oil and pranayama like anulom vilom will help reduce vata and nervous tension Ayurvedic medicines can be given in small doses kutajarishta one tsp twice a day with equal water on diarrhea days chitrakadi vati half tsp after meals to improve digestion triphala churna half to one tsp at night with warm water to gently regulate bowel avipattikar churna half tsp at night if constipation occurs dhvantaram gutika or kamdudha ras can be used in alternating constipation if she feels weak these medicines help restore normal bowel rhythm strengthen digestion and calm vata It is important to have fixed toilet timing after meals avoid stress and anxiety and continue gentle treatment for three to six months she should be monitored for dehydration or worsening diarrhea if blood mucus fever or weight loss appear seek immediate allopathic consultation with these measures her bowel movements will gradually normalize her energy improve and the feeling of incomplete evacuation will reduce

HELLO, Your daughter had food poisoning 6 months ago. Thatinfection disturbed her digestive system deep. Even though the infection went away, the digestion did not recover properly. In Ayurveda, digestion is governed by digestive fire After food poisoning -agni became weak and irregular -the intestine lost its strength -the bowel movement controlling force became disturb(Apana Vata_ This leads to condition called POST INFECTIVE GRAHANI WHY DOES SHE HAVE ALTERNATING DIARRHEA AND CONSTIPATION -When vata increases, stools become hard, incomplete, or blocked -when agni becomes weak, food is not digested-> loose stools -because agni is unstable, sometimes stools are loose, sometimes hard WHY URGENCY AND INCOMPLETE EVACUATION? -Apana Vata is moving in the wrong direction -the rectumgets the urge, but coordination is lost -even after sitting long in toilet the bowels dont feel empty This is functional weakness, not a structural disease TREATMENT GOALS -stabilize digestive fire -normalize bowel movement direction -strengthen intestinal lining -calm gut sensitivty -reduce gut brain stress response INTERNAL MEDICATIONS A) MEDICINES TO STRENGTHEN DIGESTION AND INTESTINE 1) BILVA AVALEHA= 1 tsp twice daily after meals for 8 weeks =strengthens intestines, reduces urgency, controls loose stools without causing constipation 2) KUTAJ GHAN VATI= 1 tab twice daily after meals for 6 weeks -repairs post infection gut damage, reduces inflammation, useful in altering bowel pattern 3) DADIMASHTAKA CHURNA= 1/2 tsp with buttermilk after meals for 8 weeks =improves digestion, reduces gas, bloaitng, stabilizes stool consistency B) MEDICINES FOR CONSTIPATION AND INCOMPLTE EVACUATION 4) HINGWASTAKA CHURNA= 1/4 tsp with ghee before meals for 6weeks =corrects Apana Vata, improves bowel movement coordination 5) ABHAYARISHTA = 10ml with equal water at night for 2 weeks =gentle bowel regulator, does not create dependency but use only if constipation dominant C) GUT-MIND CONNECTION SUPPORT 6) BRAHMI GHRITA= 1/2 tsp in morning with warm water for 6 weeks =calms gut brain axis, reduces urgency anxiety, improves nervous coordination of bowel EXTERNAL THERAPIES ABDOMINAL OIL MASSAGE= WARM SESAME OIL -direction= clockwise circular motion -before bath or bedtime =improves bowel movement, calms vata DIET -soft, warm, freshly cooked meals -rice, moong dal, khichdi -steamed vegetables- lauki, pumpkin, carrot -buttermilk with roasted cumin and hing -small quantity of ghee AVOID -cold drinks, ice cream -bakery items, pizza, noodles -cheese, chocolate -packaged and junk food -raw salads Warm, simple ,home food heals grahani HOME REMEDIES 1) POMEGRANATE PEEL WATER -dry peel boil in water -give 1-2 tsp once daily -helps urgent and loose stools 2) ROASTED CUMIN POWDER -1/4 tsp with buttermilk daily 3) RICE WATER -excellent for digestion recovery LIFESTYLE -fixed meal times -fixed toilet time -no screen time during meals -adequate sleep -no suppressing urge to pass stool YOGA ASANAS -pawanmuktasana -malasana -vajrasana PRANAYAM -Anulom vilom= 5-7 min -Bhramari= reduces gut anxeity This condition is reversible Ayurveda focuses on healing, not suppression With -proper digestion -correct diet -gentle medicines -emotional calm Children usually recover completely DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU DR. Hello I know it’s super tough seeing your daughter deal with those crazy bowel issues, like the urgency and never feeling empty, especially after that food poisoning. It can really mess with her confidence, how she eats, school, and just everyday life. But don’t worry too much, we are here to help you out😊 YOUR CONCERN –IBS-type stuff for half a year after food poisoning –Diarrhea and constipation switching back and forth –Gotta go RIGHT NOW feeling –Like she’s not done, even when she is –Spending ages in the bathroom –Sounds like classic post-infection IBS. WHAT AYURVEDA SAYS It’s called Grahani Dosha The food poisoning messed up her: –Digestion (Agni) –Intestine insides –Gut nerves (Apana Vata) So now: –Stool’s loose sometimes (Vata + Pitta) –Hard and stuck other times (Vata) –Gotta go NOW but nothing happens (Apana Vata out of whack) –Slimy mucus stuff (Ama) WHAT WE WANT TO DO –Fix that gut lining –Get her digestion back on track –Get Apana Vata normal again –Stop the crazy urgency –Get rid of that Ama stuff INTERNAL MEDICATION 1.Dadimashtaka Churna – ½ tsp two times a day after food (Fixes digestion and gets bowels regular) 2.Kutajghan Vati– 2 tablets two times a day (Keeps diarrhea and swelling down) 3.Bilva Avaleha – 1 tsp two times a day (Heals the colon and stops the urgency) 4.Triphala Churna – ½ tsp at night (Keeps constipation away) DIET PLAN For 2 months, ❌AVOID –Milk –Cheese –Raw salads –Cold drinks –Junk food –Tea and coffee ✅Yes to: –Rice –Moong dal –Khichdi –Banana –Pomegranate –Buttermilk with ginger WHEN THINGS GET BETTER 2 weeks: Less gotta-go-now feeling 1 month: Stool more normal 2–3 months: IBS gone! This isn’t forever IBS – it’s Grahani from the infection, and Ayurveda can really help it get better. Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate
