In managing kidney health, especially after the removal of one kidney and with reduced function in the remaining one, a holistic approach is essential in Ayurveda to support kidney function and overall well-being. First and foremost, it is crucial for your brother to work closely with his healthcare provider, especially while undergoing dialysis, to ensure that any complementary treatments do not interfere with his current regimen. To support kidney health, consider incorporating Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris), which is traditionally known to enhance renal function and support urinary health. Punarnava (Boerhavia diffusa) is another excellent herb that helps in rejuvenating kidney function and is beneficial for conditions associated with kidney impairment. Additionally, Varun (Crataeva nurvala) can help improve renal function and reduce edema. In terms of lifestyle, encourage him to follow a Pitta-pacifying diet that includes fresh fruits and vegetables while avoiding overly spicy, salty, and processed foods. Staying hydrated is crucial, but fluid intake should be monitored according to his doctor's advice, especially considering his dialysis schedule. Triphala can be beneficial for detoxifying the body and improving digestive health, which can have a positive effect on kidney function. A concoction of ginger and turmeric tea can help reduce inflammation in the body and support overall health.

Wow, that's a tough situation your brother's in. Managing BP is critical, especially with kidney issues at play. Ayurveda can definitely lend a helping hand when done in conjunction with conventional treatments. But let's not forget the urgency here. With a sole kidney functioning at 40% and regular dialysis, he needs immediate and effective care. First things first, I highly advise to continue with the modern medical treatments alongside any ayurvedic path. It's vital due to the criticality of his condition. Now, looking through the Ayurvedic lens, we might want to focus on balancing the Pitta dosha, which often gets disturbed causing hypertension and related kidney complications. Diet's a biggie. Encourage him to eat foods that are cooling and calming. Think cucumber, melons, cilantro, and coconut water. These help pacify Pitta. Avoid spicy, oily, and salty foods, they can trigger the doshic imbalance. Sipping on warm cumin or coriander seed water throughout the day will aid in digestion and help cleanse the system. Yoga and Pranayama too, but gentle! High BP means no crazy workouts. Simple poses like Savasana or Shavasana can help in calming the mind and reducing stress, which is a BP trigger. Breathing exercises like Anulom-Vilom or Nadi Shodhana Pranayama are great to incorporate. But it's key to check with his medical doc before diving into any exercise routine. Now, herbs like Arjuna or Gokshura can be beneficial for heart health and kidney support, respectively. But **caution—consult with a skilled Ayurvedic practitioner so they can recommend a tailored herbal formula for his specific needs and monitor any interactions with current treatments. I hope this helps a bit, but again, with such a serious condition, working closely with health professionals, both Ayurvedic and allopathic, is the safest route. Keep supporting him with love and care!
