Doctors' responses

Namaste Yakshika ji,

Your symptoms suggest allergic rhinitis and potential Kapha-Vata imbalance. Walking barefoot on cold ground could aggravate these doshas. Early greying indicates Pitta imbalance and nutrient deficiencies.

Ayurvedic Chikitsa Herbal Remedies: Sitopaladi Churna: 1 tsp with honey twice daily after meals for runny nose and sneezing. Chyawanprash: 1 tsp daily for immunity and hair health. Nasya (Nasal Drops): 2 drops of Anu Taila in each nostril every morning to balance Kapha. Diet: Avoid cold, sour, and Kapha-aggravating foods (curd, citrus, fried). Include warm soups, turmeric milk, and seasonal fruits. Lifestyle: Wear slippers indoors to avoid cold exposure. Perform steam inhalation with eucalyptus oil to clear nasal passages. Yoga: Practice Nadi Shodhana Pranayama and Kapalabhati to improve respiratory function. For Premature Greying: Apply Bhringraj Oil to the scalp twice weekly. Take Amla Juice (10 ml) daily on an empty stomach. Prognosis: Consistency in treatment can show improvement in 4-6 weeks. Monitor for sinus symptoms, and consult for advanced care if needed.

Wishing you health and balance,

The symptoms you’re describing—runny nose, frequent sneezing, and sensitivity to walking barefoot on the ground—could indicate an allergy or sensitivity related to the nasal passages, which may not necessarily be sinusitis. In Ayurveda, these symptoms could be linked to an imbalance in the Kapha and Vata doshas, leading to excessive mucus production, allergies, and sensitivity to environmental changes. Additionally, premature greying of hair is often associated with an imbalance in Pitta dosha, which governs hair pigmentation and vitality.

Ayurvedic Remedies:

For Runny Nose and Sneezing:

Tulsi (Holy Basil) and Turmeric are known for their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and can help reduce nasal congestion and allergic reactions. You can consume Tulsi tea or steam with turmeric to relieve symptoms. Triphala can help strengthen the immune system and reduce mucus production, supporting respiratory health. Nasya (nasal therapy) with Anu Taila (an Ayurvedic herbal oil) is highly effective for clearing blocked nasal passages and soothing the sinuses. For Greying Hair:

Amla (Indian Gooseberry) is a powerful herb to prevent premature greying and promote healthy hair growth. You can consume Amla in powder or juice form or apply Amla oil to your scalp. Brahmi and Bhringraj are also excellent herbs for improving hair health, preventing greying, and enhancing strength. Dietary Recommendations:

For both nasal health and hair vitality, include cooling, Pitta-balancing foods in your diet such as fresh fruits (apples, pomegranates), leafy vegetables, and whole grains. Avoid spicy, oily, and hot foods, as they can aggravate Pitta and worsen symptoms like sneezing and runny nose. Increase intake of healthy fats, such as ghee and coconut oil, which can nourish the hair and support your immune system. Lifestyle and Environmental Factors:

Avoid sudden temperature changes and exposure to allergens like dust, pollen, or pollutants that can trigger your sneezing and runny nose. Regularly cleanse your nasal passages with a neti pot or nasal saline rinse to help clear allergens and mucus. By following these Ayurvedic principles, you can manage both your respiratory symptoms and support your hair health. If the issues persist or worsen, consider consulting with an Ayurvedic practitioner for a tailored treatment plan.

Runny nose, frequent sneezing, especially when you step onto the ground in the morning, that can really be annoying! Sounds like your Kapha is doing a bit of a dance, which makes sense because morning time is all about Kapha – heavy, cool and kinda dampish stuff going on, you know? Walking barefoot might be pulling that cool earth energy right into you, triggerin the sneezes.

You might not be dealin with sinus issues exactly, though it’s possible. What seems more likely is an imbalace in your body’s response to cold and moist environments – something Ayurveda peeps attribute to sensitivity in Kapha dosha increases during these conditions. So let’s try makin a few adjustments, shall we?

First off with your morning routine. When you get up, drink a cup of warm water with a squeeze of lemon. This kickstarts your agni – your digestive fire. And have you tried a Neti pot before? It’s a nifty little nasal cleaner that helps maintain clear breaths by clearing out excess Kapha from your nasal passages. But be sure you’re using boiled then cooled water with a pinch of salt for safety, and mayb’ do it just thrice a week to start.

Now, bout that barefoot walk – slip on some socks or indoor slippers in the meantime! You don’t wanna directly connect with that cold energy too soon, Ideally keeping yourself warm can make wonders.

For those greys, at such young age? It suggests Pitta – inflammation, well its hightimes not eat spicy, too salty food. Use amla (Indian gooseberry) in your diet, it’s known for eh… slowing down the greying process. Amla chai or juice should suit and it’s rich in vitamin C too.

If things don’t improve or you notice other severe symtoms, it might be good to check with a specialist. Keep things easy and take note of changes, yeah? Stay calm and balanced.
