Doctors’ responses

Namaste Neha ji, Elevated prolactin levels indicate an imbalance in hormonal functioning, which Ayurveda addresses by regulating Pitta and Kapha doshas. The goal is to restore hormonal balance and alleviate breast pain and heaviness. Ayurvedic Recommendations Herbal Remedies: Ashwagandha: 1 capsule or 500 mg powder daily to reduce stress (a trigger for prolactin elevation). Vrihat Vatchintamani Rasa: 125 mg with honey twice daily under supervision to regulate prolactin levels. Dietary Advice: Include: Warm, easily digestible foods; cow’s milk; nuts like almonds (soaked); fresh fruits like papaya and pomegranate. Avoid: Spicy, fried, and sour foods, as they aggravate Pitta and disrupt hormones. Lifestyle Changes: Practice Pranayama (especially Anulom Vilom and Bhramari) for stress management. Avoid excessive screen time and ensure 7-8 hours of sound sleep. Gentle breast massage with Kumkumadi Taila for relief from pain and heaviness. Other Therapies: Nasya Karma: 2 drops of Anu Taila in each nostril daily under supervision to balance hormonal pathways. Prognosis With consistent treatment, levels should stabilize in 1-2 months. Regular monitoring and consultation with an Ayurvedic practitioner are advised. Wishing you strength and good health,

Elevated prolactin levels, as you’ve experienced, can cause breast pain and heaviness, and can be linked to several factors such as hormonal imbalances, stress, or issues with the pituitary gland. In Ayurveda, elevated prolactin is often seen as a Kapha imbalance, which can lead to sluggish metabolism, weight gain, and fluid retention. Since vitamin E helped lower your prolactin, it may have had a soothing or balancing effect on your hormones. However, stopping it may have caused a rebound effect. For managing this naturally, you could try balancing your hormones with herbs like Shatavari, which is known to support female reproductive health and help regulate hormone levels. Ashwagandha is another herb that helps reduce stress and supports endocrine health. Eating a nutritious diet with a focus on healthy fats (like ghee, flax seeds, and almonds) and whole grains can also support overall hormone balance. Reducing stress through yoga, pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation can help regulate prolactin levels as stress can elevate prolactin. However, it’s important to consult your healthcare provider, as they can offer a complete assessment and guide you on the best treatment options.
