Your symptoms of nasal blockage and persistent phlegm in the throat, which affect both breathing and speech, suggest an imbalance in Kapha dosha, leading to excess mucus production and congestion. Ayurveda can help clear the respiratory channels and reduce mucus buildup through specific remedies and practices. Sitopaladi Churna, a traditional Ayurvedic formulation, may be beneficial for reducing phlegm and supporting respiratory health. Mix 1/2 teaspoon of Sitopaladi Churna with honey and take it twice daily after meals. Talisadi Churna, another herbal powder, may also aid in clearing mucus and easing congestion.

In addition to these remedies, Trikatu (a blend of black pepper, long pepper, and ginger) is useful in reducing excess Kapha and clearing respiratory pathways. You can mix a small amount with honey and take it daily before meals to help break down mucus. Tulsi (Holy Basil) tea, consumed 2-3 times a day, can also help open up blocked passages, reduce phlegm, and support easier breathing.

Regular Nasya therapy, where 2-3 drops of warm Anu Thailam or sesame oil are applied in each nostril in the morning, can help clear nasal passages and reduce congestion. Performing steam inhalation with a few drops of eucalyptus or mint oil can also provide immediate relief by loosening mucus.

Avoid cold, heavy, and dairy foods, which can worsen phlegm buildup. Opt for warm, easily digestible foods and include spices like turmeric, ginger, and black pepper in your diet. Additionally, daily gentle practices of Pranayama, particularly Anulom Vilom and Bhramari, can help improve respiratory function and reduce congestion.

The phlegm is the throat could be mucus coming through your nasal area or sinuses as a post nasal drip or chest mucus or due to hyperacidity there is a reflux causing mucus in the throat along with irritation. Do you have any other symptoms?

It sounds like you’re dealing with quite the discomfort there. Having a blocked nose and the feeling of phlegm—could be plum typo— in the throat can be really annoying. Ayurvedically speaking, this might point towards an imbalance in your Kapha dosha. Kapha, when in excess, can cause symptoms like mucus buildup and respiratory congestion.

Let’s start by addressing your diet and lifestyle - they play big roles here. Try to cut down on dairy, cold and overly sweet foods, these really can stimulate more mucus production. Instead, focus on warm, light, and spicy foods as these can help balance the Kapha. Think ginger tea, pepper, or cumin which can help in reducing blockage by improving circulation and breaking down mucus.

Make use of steam inhalation to free up your nasal passage. Just boil water, add a few drops of eucalyptus oil (if you have it), and inhale the steam. Do it once or twice a day. A neti pot—if you’re comfortable and have one—can wash out your sinus but be cautious.

Avoid sleeping on your back. Instead, prop yourself up with pillows - helps drain the mucus rather than building up in the throat. And add some physical activity like brisk walking; it really helps to move the stagnant Kapha.

If your symptoms don’t ease up or, get worsen especially the breathing difficulty, seeking medical attention swiftly would be wise. Blocked nose and throat issues might sometimes point to other conditions, and it’s better to be on the safe side.

Remember, this is pretty general advice. For best result, consult a practitioner who could look at your specific situation, though I hope these tips give some relief in the meantime.
