HELLO KAVERI,

Based on your description= comedogenic acne, pustules with pain, sensitive and irritated skin, and a history of popping acne

Your skin issue seems to be a combination of -Comedones(blocked pores- whiteheads and blackheads -Inflammatory acne- pustules with pain -sensitive skin, worsened by touching/ popping acne.

In Ayurveda, this typically relates to an imbalance in pitta and kapha doshas -pitta aggravation-> inflammation, redness, irritation -Kapha aggravation-> oiliness, clogged pores

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

1) GANDHAK RASAYANA= 1 tab twice daily after meals =purifies blood , reduces inflammation

2) NEEM CAPSULES= 2 cap daily in morning =detoxifies blood and skin

3) AROGYAVARDHINI VATI= 1 tab twice daily after meals =helps regulate liver and skin health

4) MANJISTHA CHURNA= 1 tsp with honey after meals =reduces pigmentation and pitta

5) TRIPHALA CHURNA= at bedtime 1 tsp with warm water =detox and digestion support

TOPICAL CARE- FOR SENSITIVE, ACNE-PRONE SKIN

CLEANSING(twice daily) -mild herbal cleanser with neem, tulsi or aloe vera =avoid foaming, drying cleansers

TONING(very helpful) -rose water or diluted apple cider vinegar(few drops in water) =dab lightly using cotton- reduces inflammation

MOISTURIZING -aloe vera gel(Pure) or kumkumadi taila(non comedogenic versions) at night in very small quantity =avoid heavy creams or oils

SPOT TREATMENT -paste of neem + turmeric + sandalwood with rosewater- apply on acne spots only

DIET AND LIFESTYLE(very important)

AVOID -fried, oily, spicy, and fermented foods -milk and dairy esp. cold milk or panner -excess sugar or junk foods -heavy night meals or late eating

INCLUDE -warm water sipping through the day. -fresh fruits- pomegranate, papaya ,amla -light, digestible meals -turmeric in food or golden milk at night if tolerated

MIND AND DIGESTION CONNECTION -stress increases acne. Try pranayam(anulom-vilom, sheetali) daily -Maintain bowel regularity with triphala or fibrous food (flaxseeds, warm water with lemon in morning)

SIMPLE HOME AYURVEDIC MASK -1 tsp multani mitti -1/4 tsp turmeric -1/2 tsp sandalwood powder -rose water to make a paste apply gently, avoid scrubbing, leave for 10-15 minutes and rinse with cool water. Follow with aloe vera.

WHAT TO AVOID -scrubbing or over washing -picking or popping acne(can trigger more irritation even if no scarring now) -overuse of cosmetic products or facials -using hot water on face

THANK YOU

hello kaveri, Thank you for your message. Acne vulgaris (commonly called Yuvan Pidaka in Ayurveda) is explained in classical Ayurvedic texts as a condition caused due to vitiation of Pitta and Kapha doshas, often associated with rakta dushti (vitiation of blood). When exposed to excessive sunlight (Atapa sevana), the heat aggravates Pitta in the body and can trigger inflammation, pustules, and pigmentation on the face, especially in young adults.

This imbalance is further aggravated if there is indigestion (Agnimandya), oily or spicy diet, excessive stress, or hormonal changes. So treatment must aim to purify blood (Raktashodhana), balance Pitta-Kapha, and restore digestive fire (Agni).

Internal Medicines (1 month) Mahamanjishtadi Kwath – 15 ml with 45 ml warm water, twice daily before food

Kaishor Guggulu – 2 tablets twice daily after food with lukewarm water (Balances Pitta and purifies blood) Gandhaka Rasayana – 250 mg twice daily after food (For pustules, itching, and skin glow)

External Application (for acne and scars)

Nalpamaradi Keram or Eladi Tailam – Apply lightly on face at night, leave for 20 mins, then wash with lukewarm water Lodhra + Yashtimadhu + Manjishta powder – Mix with rose water or aloe vera gel, apply as a face pack twice a week Diet and Lifestyle

Avoid: Fried foods, pickles, curd, cheese, chocolates, excess salt and spicy foods Avoid late nights and screen exposure before bed

Include: Warm meals, green moong dal, bottle gourd (lauki), turmeric, neem leaves (boiled), soaked raisins and almonds Drink warm water infused with coriander or fennel Take 1 tsp Avipattikar Churna with warm water at bedtime if digestion is sluggish or you feel acidity

Ayurvedic Procedures (if acne is severe or recurring) Raktamokshana (bloodletting) – leech therapy in resistant or deep-seated acne (done under supervision) Virechana Karma – therapeutic purgation (after initial internal medication) to remove Pitta from its root

This combination helps in clearing acne from inside while improving digestion, hormonal balance, and skin glow naturally.

If you have any doubts, you can contact me. Take care, Regards, Dr. Karthika

To help manage acne vulgaris especially from sun exposure, Ayurvedic approaches can be beneficial, targeting both external skincare and internal health. Firstly, it’s important to address your skin type, though you mentioned you’re unaware. In Ayurveda, understanding your dosha helps – primarily, acne is often linked to Pitta imbalance.

For skincare products, focus on natural ingredients known for their soothing, cooling properties. Look for products with neem, tea tree oil, or sandalwood, as these are traditionally used to calm inflamed skin. Neem oil is antiseptic and helps purify the skin, while tea tree oil balances excess oiliness, very common in acne-prone skin.

Start cleansing your face twice daily with a gentle, sulfate-free cleanser incorporating neem or turmeric, both have antimicrobial properties that can help reduce acne. Steer clear of harsh scrubs which can irritate the skin further. After cleansing, apply a toner with rosewater; it’s cooling and helps reduce oiliness on the skin surface.

Internally, balancing your Pitta dosha can be key. Incorporate foods that are cooling and soothing like cucumbers, melons, and leafy greens. Avoid spicy, fried foods, and too much caffeine, as these can exacerbate Pitta and worsen acne symptoms. Drinking herbal teas with coriander or mint can also help calm your system internally.

Consistency is vital, but if your acne is severe, or not improving, it’s best to consult with a healthcare professional. Give these products and dietary changes at least a few weeks to see visible results. Remember, natural remedies might take time but are gentle on your skin and systemic health.

To address your acne vulgaris through Siddha-Ayurvedic wisdom, it’s crucial to first identify the root imbalance, often connected to excessive Pitta (heat) in your body. Sun exposure can increase this Pitta imbalance. Without knowing your exact prakriti or skin type, a balanced approach is beneficial:

1. Cleansing and Protection: You can cleanse your face twice daily with a gentle, natural cleanser like chickpea flour mixed with a pinch of turmeric and water. This combo helps remove excess oil and reduce inflammation without irritating the skin.

2. Hydration: Apply aloe vera gel, fresh from the plant if possible, as it is soothing and can help to moderate Pitta. Apply it gently on your face, leave for 20 minutes then rinse it off. Aloe helps in hydrating the skin without clogging pores.

3. Internal Balance: Drink at least 2 liters of water daily and include herbal teas like neem, which help in detoxifying your blood and reduce acne. Consuming more cooling foods like cucumber and yogurt is also beneficial in pacifying aggravated Pitta.

4. Avoidance: Limit spicy, oily, and sour foods, which can exacerbate Pitta. Also try to minimize sun exposure during peak hours; a natural sunscreen with zinc oxide can offer protection without harmful chemicals.

5. Herbal Routine: Consider using a face pack of sandalwood powder and rosewater twice a week. It’s cooling and can help in controlling Pitta while clearing acne.

Make sure that products are as natural as possible, avoiding synthetic ingredients which can imbalance your doshas further. If the acne persists or worsens, it’s advisable to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner to understand your doshas better and get more personalized advice.
