Considering your grandmother’s situation, her knee pain could be related to several factors, including her age, past injuries, and possibly a Vata imbalance according to Ayurveda. For her, we can approach this issue in a few ways.

First, diet is key. Encouraging her to include foods that pacify Vata dosha may help in reducing knee pain. Warm, cooked meals that are easy to digest should be preffered. She could consider incorporating more ghee, sesame oil, and warm spices like ginger and turmeric in her diet. These ingredients not only improve digestion but also provide some anti-inflammatory benefits.

Exercise is another important aspect. Gentle exercises such as yoga or stretching can improve circulation and flexibility around the knee joint. She should focus on movements that don’t strain her joints. Maybe some simple knee bends or leg raises while she’s sitting. Just encourage her to listen to her body’s limitations; pain is a signal, not to push beyond comfort.

Massaage can be beneficial too. Using warm sesame oil to massage the knee joint can help in alleviating pain. Apply gentle pressure, maybe daily or a few times a week. A gentle massage can enhance blood flow and nourish the joint tissues.

Her daily routine might also need some tweaking. Warm baths can be soothing, especially if you add a few drops of eucalyptus oil. Keep her knees warm, especially during colder months.

Lastly, an important aspect is maintaining proper hydration throughout the day. Sometimes, muscle cramps can occur due to dehydration, so ensure she drinks enough water. It’s best if she avoids cold drinks, which can aggravate Vata.

If these lifestyle and dietary adjustments don’t provide enough relief, do consider consulting with an Ayurvedic practitioner in person for tailored advice and possibly herbal supplements like ashwangandha or shatavari wich could provide more benefits.

Remember, while these recommendations could help, any significant change to health routines should be monitored.
