Burning feet - #20283
My mum suffers burning feet since 4 years. We have tried a lot of supplements.Nothing really works. We have seen a lot of doctors. They all say it’s neuropathy. Her hba1c always 6.2. We also found out she has a bulging disc. She has back pain too. We think it’s more the back and the side effects of glucophage. Also she is taking asthma medicine for prevention, cause she had asthma in her 30.

It does seem likely that her burning feet are a mix of neuropathy from multiple causes—mild diabetes, the bulging disc, and possibly medication side effects. In ayurveda it’s due to pitta aggravation Giloy ghan vati- Chandraprabha vati- 1 tab twice daily after food with lukewarm water Shatavari churna-1/2 tsp with lukewarm milk at night Coconut oil/alovera gel - local app.n Avoid spicy sour fried foods VIT B12, mg test to be done
Do foot massage with ksheerabala taila daily Take Dhanvantara grita 1 tsp early in the morning on empty stomach Avoid green chilli in food, spicy food , fried and baked food have more fiber and green vegetable in your food Do walking regularly to control your Diabetes…
Have you conducted a Vitamin B12 test to assess her nutritional status?
Secondly, please provide the MRI report of the disc bulge to determine its exact location.
Additionally, share her medical history, including any medications she is currently taking. If she has undergone any surgical procedures in the past, kindly provide the details.
I also need to evaluate some Ayurvedic diagnostic criteria, including Prakriti (body constitution), Saar (tissue quality), Agni (digestive strength), and Koshtha (gut nature).
Please share these details so I can offer the best possible Ayurvedic guidance tailored to her condition.

It seems like your mum is dealing with quite a bit. It’s important to address both the burning feet sensation and underlying issues considering Ayurveda’s holistic perspective. The burning you describe often relates to an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, which can cause heat or inflammation in the body. It might also be compounded by her back issue, potentially affecting nerve pathways.
First off, managing her Pitta is essential. Incorporating a pitta-pacifying diet could help. This means avoiding spicy, sour, and salty foods, which tend to increase pitta, and focus on more cooling, sweet, and bitter tastes. Suggest increasing cucumber, leafy greens, and sweet fruits like melons and pears. Staying well-hydrated with water, coconut water, or herbal teas like chamomile or peppermint can also help manage internal heat.
Considering the neuropathy aspect, nourishing the nervous system is beneficial. Ashwagandha or Brahmi are renowned Ayurvedic herbs for nerve support. If her doctors approve, incorporating these could be beneficial, but always check to avoid interactions with her asthma medication.
For the bulging disc and associated back pain, gentle exercises or yoga specifically focusing on back care can be supportive. Practices like Cat-Cow or gentle twists can help, but avoid any movement causing discomfort.
Look into applying medicated oils like Mahanarayana Thailam. Warm the oil slightly and massage her feet, which can calm nerve discomfort and balance doshas. Ensure she wears comfortable shoes to avoid further irritation.
Regarding her current medication like Glucophage, consult her healthcare provider to discuss potential side effects that might aggravate her condition. Always prioritize safety by keeping open communication with her doctors.
Lastly, stress management is crucial since stress can aggravate her condition. Daily relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation may alleviate stress-related Pitta imbalances. Staying connected with her health professionals ensures a balanced approach to support her well-being.
