How to treat melasma by minimal products? - #20438

Sushma Shakya

I have a melasma in my tip of the nose. It's slowly spreading over my forehead and in my faces too. I have consulted so many dermatologist and skin hospital also. The products they gave are expensive and yes they faded my melasma fast but only for short duration of the time. Once I stopped using those product then it is visible again. I want to try ayurvedic treatment for my problem. I don't want a quick results for my problems. I am okay to wait long for the sustainable results for my problem, but I don't want to use so many skin care products.

Melasma is often linked to Pitta dosha disorders in Ayurveda, which typically include factors like excess heat, exposure to sun, and internal imbalances. Since you’ve mentioned a willingness to be patient for long-term solutions, Ayurveda offers a holistic approach that focuses on balancing the Pitta dosha, alongside promoting overall skin health. Let's dive into a few suggestions that can help manage your condition in an Ayurvedic way. Firstly, focus on cooling the body internally, which can be quite beneficial for melasma. Incorporate more Pitta-pacifying foods into your diet. Opt for cooling and hydrating foods such as cucumbers, coriander, and fennel seeds. Avoid spicy, sour, and oily foods as they may aggravate Pitta. Drinking a glass of aloe vera juice daily can help soothe the system internally, contribute to balancing that heat within. In terms of herbal supplements, Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) is an excellent choice. It is recognized for its natural ability to balance all three Doshas and purify blood, which can support in fading melasma. Take it under an Ayurvedic practitioner's guidance to ensure the correct dosage. Topically, you can apply sandalwood paste on the affected areas of your skin. Mix sandalwood powder with rose water to form a smooth paste, apply on the melasma patches, and rinse it after 20-30 minutes. This may not provide immediate results but over time it should help in reducing the pigmentation. Avoiding excessive sun exposure is key too. Use a natural zinc-based sunscreen for protection without applying too many products. Stress management is another important aspect. Yoga and meditation can be helpful to bring down overall Pitta levels by promoting relaxation and balance. And remember to stay hydrated! Drinking plenty of water will support the detoxification of your system. If the melasma is severe or causing significant distress, please consider continuing consultations with qualified healthcare professionals along with Ayurvedic approaches. It is all about achieving harmony and balancing the body within its natural state, and Ayurveda can siupport you along this path when done mindfully. Keep consistent with these practices and be patient with your skin's journey towards health.
