Acne, open pores, and oily skin are often signs of an imbalance in the pitta dosha, especially during the summer when heat aggravates these conditions. Let's dive into a few Ayurvedic suggestions you can try: First, focus on diet. Try to reduce or eliminate spicy, oily, and fried foods as these can increase heat in the body. Favor cooling foods like cucumber, coriander, lettuce, and fruits such as melons and pomegranates. Drink plenty of water, but at room temperature to maintain a balance in your digestion, avoid chilled water. Herbal teas made from ingredients like mint or hibiscus can also cool the pitta. For your skincare routine, you might consider Ayurvedic herbs and formulations. Use a gentle cleanser; I would suggest something with neem for its antibacterial properties or sandalwood paste, which is cooling and soothing. For open pores, you might try using Multani mitti (fuller's earth) mask twice a week; it helps absorb oil and tightening pores. Mix it with rose water for added benefit, but be careful not to over-dry your skin. Regarding whiteheads and regular acne, a natural exfoliation once a week with a scrub made from chickpea flour and turmeric might help unclog pores and improve skin texture. Mix with a little milk or rose water. However, make sure to be gentle and avoid harsh scrubbing. For hair fall, regular oil massage using oils like bhringraj or amla can strengthen hair follicles. Massage gently, leave on for a few hours or overnight, then wash off thoroughly. Eating foods rich in iron and protein—like leafy greens, nuts, and seeds—can support healthy hair growth. Remember that stress, sleep pattern, and lifestyle (including exercise) affect overall skin and hair health too. Incorporating routine relaxation methods, like yoga or meditation, can be beneficial for balancing your doshas. Lastly, try to avoid excessively washing your hair or face, as it can strip off natural oils, which are essential for healthy skin and hair. Consider seeing an Ayurvedic practitioner for a personalized plan, tailored specifically to your prakriti and condition if things don't improve.
