Fluid accumulation in the pouch of Douglas (POD) can sometimes cause discomfort, and it's great that you have already performed some tests to investigate further. Your normal VDRL and CBC reports are reassuring, indicating there's no immediate infection or systemic concern, but it’s essential to consider all factors at play, like your PCOS and abdominal pain. Ayurveda can offer supportive measures. Fluid accumulation can be related to menstrual cycle variations or hormonal fluctuations, especially with PCOS. From an Ayurvedic perspective, this could denote an imbalance in kapha dosha which often needs addressing when fluid retention is an issue. Firstly, consider incorporating dry ginger powder (shunti) into your daily regime – about a quarter teaspoon with warm water after meals. This can aid digestion, reducing kapha and vata imbalances, which might help alleviate fluid build-up and even improve pain in your abdomen. Diet plays a pivotal role too; favor a light, warm diet, avoiding cold and heavy-to-digest foods such as deep-fried items, dairy, and excessive starches. Allow digestive spices like cumin, turmeric, and black pepper to be a part of your meals, as they naturally enhance digestion and reduce the tendency to retain fluids. Since PCOS is a part of your health backdrop, adding evening primrose oil or fennel seeds to your regimen may also support hormone regulation naturally. Practice yoga or pranayama regularly, focusing on postures that stimulate abdominal organs, like Setu Bandhasana (bridge pose) and Bhujangasana (cobra pose). Furthermore, elevating your pelvic region by lying down and placing a pillow under your hips for 10 minutes a day can sometimes assist fluid movement in the POD area. However, if the pain increases or you notice other symptoms like fever or severe discomfort, it’s important to consult a healthcare provider promptly. Ayurveda complements but should not replace necessary medical interventions in emergent situations. Keep track of any changes or patterns in your symptoms and maintain open communication with your healthcare team for comprehensive care.
