can women take shilajit - #23227

Ella

I am really confused about this whole shilajit thing. So, I recently came across some info saying how beneficial shilajit can be for energy and overall health, but I’ve heard a few different opinions on whether women can take shilajit. I mean, I'm a healthy 30-something, but I have some friends who say it’s only for men or something? 🤷‍♀️ I’ve been feeling a bit fatigued lately and thought why not give it a try? Would shilajit help me boost my energy levels? Also, are there any side effects I should worry about with women taking shilajit???? I just need clarity before diving in!

Shilajit is indeed a fascinating substance and has been revered in Ayurvedic tradition for its rejuvenating and energizing potential. It's derived from the decomposition of plant matter in the rocks of the Himalayas and is rich in minerals and fulvic acid. The notion that shilajit is suited only for men is a misconception. In Ayurveda, shilajit is considered a "Yogavahi," which means it enhances the potency and effectivity of other herbs, and is beneficial for boosting energy and vitality in both men and women. For women experiencing fatigue, shilajit can help improve energy levels by enhancing nutrient absorption and metabolism. It supports the body's natural functioning without giving a sudden or artificial high boost of energy. This can be particularly useful for those who lead a busy lifestyle, like yourself. Before starting shilajit, it's essential to consider your unique prakriti (constitution) and current dosha imbalances. Shilajit generally pitta and kapha pacifying, which could benefit those who have an accumulation of these doshas. However, if you're predominantly a vata individual or going through a phase of increased vata, it's best to use shilajit with caution or under the guidance of an Ayurvedic practitioner. Regarding side effects, pure, properly processed shilajit is generally safe, but possible impurities can pose issues. Make sure to source shilajit from a reputable supplier. Some people might experience an upset digestive fire (agni) if they consume it without proper guidance, especially if taken in excess. To use shilajit, start with a very small dose, such as a pea-sized amount, mixed with warm milk or water, ideally on an empty stomach in the morning. Monitor your body's response and consult with a professional if you experience any discomfort or abnormalities. Pregnant women, nursing mothers, or women trying to conceive should be cautious and seek medical advice beforehand, as research on shilajit's effects in such conditions is limited. It’s always wise to consult with a healthcare provider or a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner who can give tailored advice for your specific needs and help ensure the safe use of shilajit in your daily routine.
