Gaining weight with a busy schedule can certainly be challenging, especially with low appetite and frequent constipation. In Ayurveda, the goal is to enhance the digestive fire (agni) while harmonizing the imbalanced doshas. For you, focusing on balancing Vata dosha could help, considering the constipation and low appetite. Start your day with a glass of warm water with a pinch of turmeric and some lemon to gently wake up the digestive system. Include warm, moist and easily digestible foods that don't make your digestive system work too hard. Khichadi made with moong dal and rice, seasoned with a bit of ghee could be a meal to consider. Adding healthy fats is essential to your diet. Ghee and sesame oil are beneficial and can provide nourishment. When cooking legumes or grains, add a spoon of ghee during the process for flavor and nutritive benefits without burdening your digestion. For snacks, consider nuts like soaked almonds, walnuts, and cashews, but make sure they're not too dry; soak if necessary. Dates and figs can also provide energy and help with constipation. Remember to chew thoroughly to aid digestion. Your drinks should be warm or at least room temperature to avoid aggravating Vata. Herbal teas infused with ginger, cardamom, or fennel may aid digestion and prevent constipation. When your schedule gets quite hectic, consider more frequent smaller meals rather than big ones to prevent feeling overwhelmed. Yo might try Ayurveda's Ashwagandha or Shatavari in powdered form with warm milk to increase appetite and aid tissue building. Amalaki is another herb, its high vitamin C content can aid digestion and elimination. Regularly, perform a gentle oil massage using sesame or almond oil to increase circulation and calm Vata. Try some mindful deep breathing exercises or simple meditation to reduce stress and improve digestion. If constipation persists, seek an Ayurvedic formulation like Triphala at bedtime with warm water, it generally helps regulate bowel movements, but it is always better to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner for the right dosage based on your constitution. Good nutrition with a schedule like yours is all about consistency and quality over quantity. Be patient with yourself, and make small, gradual changes that your body can slowly adapt to, this way, you can steadily reach your weight gain goals while keeping health a priority.
