I am really confused about whether I can take ashokarishta during periods. Last month, I started experiencing really painful cramps and heavy bleeding, and my friend suggested trying ashokarishta since I heard it can help with period issues. I ordered some, but then I started second-guessing... like, is it okay to take ashokarishta during my periods? I read that it helps with menstrual health but still wondering if it might cause more bleeding or something? Also, my periods have been kinda irregular lately, all over the place honestly. One month they’re super heavy, then next it’s almost light. I honestly don’t know if I should try the ashokarishta now or wait until after my period is over. I feel like if I don’t try it, I could be missing out on something that might help! 😩 If anyone has experiences with ashokarishta during periods, would love to hear your thoughts!

Taking Ashokarishta during your periods is generally considered safe in Ayurveda and may actually provide relief from painful cramps and help regulate menstrual flow. Ashokarishta, a classical Ayurvedic formulation, is known for its benefits in supporting female reproductive health. It is named after Ashoka tree, which is commonly used in treatments relating to menstrual concerns.

However, it’s important to get a recommendation that’s suited for your specific health situation. Experiencing heavy bleeding and painful cramps could indicate a deeper imbalance in your doshas, particularly Pitta or Vata imbalance which can affect menstrual health. In such cases, Ashokarishta might help but should be used thoughtfully.

For heavy bleeding, it’s advisable to take 2 tablespoons of Ashokarishta, diluted with an equal quantity of water, around twice a day after meals during your period days. If your constitution is primarily Pitta, take care not to consume even larger quantities, as it might exacerbate your heat-related symptoms. Always follow this with a light meal that’s easy on digestion, avoiding spicy and oily foods that may worsen heavier bleeding periods.
