how to use amla reetha shikakai powder for hair wash - #23588

Connor

I am really struggling with my hair lately! I’ve been trying to go a more natural route because honestly all those chemically loaded shampoos just aren’t cutting it anymore. A friend recommended using amla reetha shikakai powder for hair wash, but I’m totally confused about how to actually use it. Like, what’s the right proportion of each? And do I need to mix them in a specific way or just throw them together? Last week, I tried mixing it without much thought and my hair ended up feeling so dry and weird after! 🙈 I really want to avoid that again. Also, how often should I be using this amla reetha shikakai mix? Would it be okay to stick to it? Oh, and does anyone know if mixing them with water is a must, or can I use something else? I kinda wanna get this right because I’ve heard great things about the benefits! Ugh, any tips would be super helpful, seriously!

The amla reetha shikakai mix is a wonderful way to cleanse your hair naturally, aligning with Ayurvedic principles. Let’s address the proportions and process first. Typically, mixing equal parts each of amla, reetha, and shikakai powder can work well. For example, if you start with a tablespoon of each, it creates a balanced blend that nourishes and cleanses the hair effectively, while reducing the risk of dryness. To prevent your hair from feeling dry, it might be helpful to first soak these powders in water overnight. This softening phase allows the properties to infuse the water, making them gentler on your hair. In the morning, boil the mixture for about 10-15 minutes, then let it cool down before straining out any residual solids. This results in a rich, beneficial liquid that can be used as a shampoo. As an alternative to water, you can try using aloe vera juice, coconut milk, or even herbal tea infusions, like green tea, to further personalize and enrich your hair care routine. These variations keeps the hair more moisturized. Regarding the frequency, using this mixture 1-2 times a week is generally fine, but pay attention to your hair's unique response. If your hair feels dry, consider less frequent usage or adding a natural hair oil treatment, like coconut or almond oil, pre-wash to give it a moisture boost. Remember, this method is inherently different from the instant results of chemically-derived shampoos; its benefits may become apparent over time with consistent usage. Keep in mind, ayurvedic haircare respects individual differences — if your hair is feeling dry even with adjustments, kindly reevaluate the proportions or combinations you are using. This way, you'll find a balanced approach that perfectly suits your intrinsic hair type and needs.
