how much amla juice per day - #23699

Logan

I am really trying to get my health back on track, and I’ve heard a lot about amla juice lately! A few weeks ago, I went for my annual check-up, and the doc said my cholesterol was a bit high, plus I’ve been feeling more tired than usual. I stumbled upon all these amazing benefits of amla juice, and it sounds like a miracle worker, right? But here’s the thing — I’m kinda confused about how much amla juice per day I should be drinking. I mean, I’ve read everything from one to three tablespoons daily. I don’t wanna overdo it, ya know? Also, I keep wondering if drinking it on an empty stomach is better or should I mix it with something else? Oh, and what if I don’t like the taste? Should I add honey, or will that mess up the benefits of amla juice? Just trying to figure out what’s the right amount of amla juice per day for me without going overboard. Thanks for any advice!

When considering incorporating amla juice into your diet, it’s important to take account your unique health needs and individual constitution, or prakriti, according to Ayurveda. For a general guideline, drinking 20-30 ml of amla juice per day, which equates to about 2 to 3 tablespoons, is typically advised. Starting with a lower amount, such as 10-15 ml and gradually increasing as your body acclimates, may be beneficial, especially if you’re new to amla juice.

If you’re addressing high cholesterol and fatigue, amla juice can be an effective ally due to its high antioxidant content and ability to enhance metabolism. Ayurveda generally suggests consuming amla juice on an empty stomach in the morning, as this can aid in better absorption and kickstart your digestive fire, or agni.

If the taste is a concern, mixing the juice with warm water can often make it more palatable. Adding honey is perfectly fine, provided you’re not having it with hot liquids, as honey’s properties change when heated. Honey can complement the benefits of amla juice by enhancing your digestive process. Another option could be adding a bit of black salt or a few drops of lemon juice for balancing the taste.

Remember, though, Ayurveda stresses balance. While amla is a potent herb, it is crucial to use it appropriately. Regular consumption, rather than excess, is key to reaping its benefits. Listen to what your body tells you when incorporating amla juice. Monitoring any changes in your energy levels or cholesterol readings might help you fine-tune your regimen.

If you experience any discomfort or your symptoms persist, it would be wise to get feedback from a healthcare professional. Ayurveda functions best when harmonized with ongoing medical assessments.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
