how to use aloe vera gel on hair - #23733

Asher

I am struggling with my hair lately, it feels so dry and frizzy and I'm really looking for ways to bring it back to life, you know? Like, I've heard about how to use aloe vera gel on hair, but I'm not really sure what the best method is. A friend told me it works wonders, but she didn’t give me much detail. Sometimes I think I might be over-complicating things with my routine – washing, conditioning, deep treatments, and all that jazz. So, should I apply aloe vera gel directly on my scalp or just the ends? I read somewhere that it can help with dandruff too — which I’ve been dealing with off and on. What about mixing it with other oils or stuff? Do I leave it in for a while or rinse it out? Help!! I literally feel lost here. Would love to know for sure how to use aloe vera gel on hair, like the best routine or tips from anyone who's done it. Thanks!!

Getting your hair back on track with aloe vera gel can indeed be quite beneficial, especially for dryness and frizziness. From an Ayurvedic perspective, it works wonders due to its cooling and hydrating properties. Aloe vera pacifies the Pitta and Vata doshas, which are often responsible for dryness and irritation of the scalp. You can apply aloe vera gel on both your scalp and hair strands, but let’s break it down a bit, so it doesn’t feel overwhelming. First, ensure that you're using a pure aloe vera gel, preferably extracted directly from the plant. Start by applying the gel directly to your scalp. This can help with dandruff issues since aloe vera has antimicrobial properties that can reduce dandruff. Don't be shy — massage it gently into your scalp to enhance blood circulation and allow better absorption. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water. You may follow up with a mild shampoo if needed. For the hair strands, especially the dry or frizzy ends, smooth a small amount from mid-length to the tips. You can also mix aloe vera gel with a few drops of coconut or argan oil to enhance its nourishing effects. Leave this mixture in as a leave-in treatment if your hair is particularly dry, or rinse it out if you're aiming for a lighter feel. Mixing aloe vera with other ingredients can indeed amplify its benefits. A mixture of aloe vera gel with yogurt and a touch of honey can be a great deep conditioning treatment. Apply this blend on your scalp and hair, then cover with a shower cap for about 30 minutes before rinsing off. Do this once a week to manage frizz and add back moisture. It's true, simpliying your hair routine might actually offer you better results. Stick to these aloe-based applications once or twice a week depending on your scalp and hair needs. Avoid over-reliance on styling products which can sabotage the natural balance of your hair. Always remember that internal health reflects outwardly. So, consider also nourishing your body with a balanced diet respecting your dosha, staying well-hydrated, and reducing stress, as these may also affect hair quality.
