how to consume shatavari powder - #24222

Dylan

I am kinda lost on how to consume shatavari powder. For a while now, I've been dealing with a lot of irregular cycles and fatigue that just won’t go away. My friend mentioned shatavari and that it could help with hormone balance, among other things. So, I got this shatavari powder but really unsure what the best way to take it is. 🤔 Like, do I mix it in water? Or maybe in some type of juice? Also, I've read some stuff online saying it can be taken with warm milk, but I’m not a big milk person. Can I put it in smoothies? What would be the best time of day to take it? I guess I’m just trying to make sure I’m doing it right, y’know? I’m a bit worried I might be doing it wrong and not getting the benefits I hope for. Oh, and also, should I avoid anything while taking shatavari powder? Just looking for some help here because I’m just starting out with this Ayurvedic stuff. Thanks!

Shatavari powder can be quite beneficial, especially given your concerns with hormonal balance and fatigue. This potent herb, known as the "queen of herbs" in Ayurveda, is traditionally used to support women's health and vitality. The way you consume shatavari really depends on your dosha and personal preferences. Since you're not a fan of milk, let’s talk about a few alternatives. You can definitely mix it into warm water or herbal teas. It can also go into smoothies, which is a quite popular these days, especially if the taste needs a little masking. You can blend about half to one teaspoon of shatavari powder with fruits like banana or berries, along with greens and almond or coconut milk for a balanced and nourishing smoothie. Regarding when to take it, shatavari is generally recommended to be taken twice daily. Morning, on an empty stomach, might be ideal as it allows your body to absorb it more efficiently, followed by the evening. But, if you find it doesn't sit well when consumed on an empty stomach, you might take it with meals. Now, since shatavari has cooling properties and strengthens balanace the body, it would be wise to avoid cold or excessively spicy foods, which can disturb your digestive agni. Keep an eye on your body's signals if you notice any unusual symptoms after beginning shatavari, as we all react differently to herbs. Remember, balance is key. Start with a smaller dose, and you can gradually increase it as your body adjusts. I recommend checking in with a local Ayurvedic practitioner for more personalized advice since they can match the treatment with your specific constitution and imbalances. Hope this helps you feel more confident on your Ayurvedic journey! Well, welcome to exploring the world of Ayurveda, and wishing you well on this path!
