when should i eat honey for weight gain - #25327

Bella

I am really confused about my diet lately, especially with this whole weight gain thing. Like, I’ve been trying to put on a few pounds but nothing seems to work! My friend mentioned honey as a good source of calories but didn't really know when should I eat honey for weight gain. I mean, should I have it first thing in the morning or after workouts? I tried mixing it with peanut butter on toast, but I don’t know if that’s even effective. Sometimes I think about just eating it straight from the jar, which I might’ve done a few times, lol. I just read that honey has a lot of natural sugars and can help with appetite... but when should I eat honey for weight gain to actually see some results? Should I be careful not to overdo it or can I eat it whenever? Just feeling a bit lost and could really use some solid advice from you all! Like, any specific meals or times, plz?!

Integrating honey into your diet for weight gain can be quite effective, when you tailor it thoughtfully. In Ayurveda, we view honey as a potent source of natural sugars and healthy calories, which can enhance both your appetite and digestion. To utilize honey for gaining weight, consuming it at specific times can be more beneficial due to its impact on your body's energy levels and digestive fire, or agni. Firstly, having honey in the morning can indeed be a great start. This aligns with the Ayurvedic principle of sparking your agni for the day. You can mix a tablespoon of raw honey in warm water and drink it first thing in the morning for a gentle boost in metabolism. Another excellent time is post-workout, where the simple carbohydrates in honey quickly replenish glycogen stores, helping muscle repair and growth. Pairing honey with protein-rich snacks post-exercise can enhance muscle development and aid in weight gain. Regarding meals, combining honey with calorie-dense foods can enhance the caloric intake. Your peanut butter toast idea is a good one! Spreading honey over peanut butter toast adds extra calories and richness. You might also consider adding honey to oatmeal, smoothies or full-fat yogurt. However, be cautious with direct consumption from the jar, as overconsumption of sugars can lead to blood sugar spikes and other health issues. Aim for about 2-3 tablespoons of honey per day, spaced throughout meals or snacks, and balance it with other nutrient-rich foods. Monitor your body's response and adjust quantities as necessary. It’s wise to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner to ensure that your dietary habits align with your dosha, constitution, and current health status. Also remember, while honey can contribute to weight gain, ensuring a balanced diet with adequate proteins, fats, and carbohydrates, along with regular strength training if appropriate, is key.
