how to weight loss after delivery - #25770

Lucas

I am really struggling with how to weight loss after delivery. It’s been about 4 months since I had my baby, and it feels like every time I look in the mirror, the weight just doesn’t budge! I did try a couple of diets, but I'm honestly not sticking to them cause they make me feel really deprived, ya know? Plus, with the little one waking me up at night, I’m just exhausted. I've been walking with the stroller, thinking that surely would help, but I still feel like the same size I was when pregnant. Just last week, I got some blood tests and everything came back normal, but all I can think about is how to weight loss after delivery effectively. Also, I’ve read a bit about Ayurvedic practices that might help, any thoughts on that? If there are any herbs or routines that can boost my metabolism or support recovery while being a new mom, I’m all ears! I want to feel like myself again without all the stress of constant dieting. Thanks in advance!

Doctors’ responses

hello Lucas, It’s completely okay to feel this way — your body has been through something huge, and four months isn’t a long time at all when it comes to post-delivery healing. Many new moms feel stuck with the weight, especially when they’re running on broken sleep, constant feeding schedules, and barely a moment for themselves. The truth is, your body isn’t just trying to lose weight — it’s still trying to recover, replenish, and rebalance from the massive work of childbirth. Ayurveda looks at postpartum weight not just as "fat to burn" but often as accumulated Kapha and undigested Ama that needs gentle stoking of digestive fire (Agni). Instead of harsh dieting, it’s about supporting your digestion, calming the hormones, and bringing your strength back so weight loss happens naturally. You're already walking, which is great — now it’s about eating warm, nourishing but light foods, and adding small herbal support to slowly reawaken your metabolism. Prescription Dashamoola Kashayam – 15 ml with equal water twice a day before food Triphala churna – 1 tsp at night with lukewarm water (helps clean and reset digestion) Trikatu churna – ½ tsp with honey once a day after food Warm ajwain water – Sip through the day to cut bloating and boost metabolism Daily abhyanga (oil massage) with Kottamchukkadi or Dhanwantaram thailam before bath, at least 3–4 times a week If you have any doubts, you can contact me. Take care, regards, dr.Karthika.
