Nagarjuna Ashwagandhaadi Lehyam - #27477

Lily

I am kinda at my wits end here. Been feeling super tired and anxious for the last few months. Like, no matter what I do I just don’t feel like myself. Sleep is a mess – some nights I can’t sleep at all and others I’m out for 10 hours but still feel exhausted!!! 😩 Anyway, I've tried a bunch of supplements but nothing seems to work. A friend of mine mentioned Nagarjuna Ashwagandhaadi Lehyam, said it really helped her with her stress and to boost her energy levels. I looked it up and it sounds promising but honestly, I'm a bit skeptical. I’ve heard Ashwagandha is good for stress, but not sure about the whole lehyam thing. How does that even work? Like, do I just eat this stuff right off the spoon or mix it with something? Also, is it suitable for someone like me who’s a bit, uh, sensitive? I've had some tummy issues before with certain herbs. I just really want something that works and wouldn't want to mess things up even more, you know? Anyone has experience with Nagarjuna Ashwagandhaadi Lehyam and can tell me if its super helpful or just... well, hype? Thanks!

Doctors' responses

Nagarjuna Ashwagandhaadi Lehyam could be a beneficial addition to your regimen, especially given your symptoms of fatigue, stress, and irregular sleep patterns. The key ingredient, Ashwagandha, is renowned in Ayurveda for its adaptogenic properties, helping the body manage stress more effectively. This herb supports both physical and mental well-being by balancing the Vata and Kapha doshas, which might be contributing to your current condition.

The “lehyam” form is essentially a herbal jam or paste, composition of various herbs and honey or jaggery, making it easy on the stomach, typically. To consume it, simply take it straight from the spoon, about one teaspoon, once or twice daily. Ideally, it should be taken with warm milk, as this can aid in its absorption and enhance its calming and nourishing properties. If you’re lactose intolerant or vegan, warm water or almond milk can serve as alternatives.

Considering your sensitivity, it’s crucial to introduce this supplement gradually. Start with a smaller dose, say half a teaspoon, and observe how your body responds over the course of a few days. This cautious approach can help mitigate any potential digestive discomfort. It’s advisable to consume it with food to further minimize risk of stomach issues.

But remember, balance is key in Ayurveda. Complement the lehyam with lifestyle adjustments like regular yoga, meditation, and a diet rich in whole, cooked foods that are warm and grounding. Avoid cold, raw foods, which may aggravate Vata dosha and worsen anxiety and insomnia. If symptoms persist, consult an ayurvedic practitioner to ensure there’s no deeper imbalance needing address, and always keep open communication with your healthcare provider to avoid interactions with existing medications.

Nagarjuna Ashwagandhaadi Lehyam could indeed be a promising option for you given your symptoms of fatigue and anxiety, as it integrates the benefits of Ashwagandha with other revitalizing herbs. In Ayurveda, Ashwagandha is recognized for its ability to alleviate stress and improve energy levels due to its adaptogenic properties. It works by balancing the aggravation of vata dosha, which often underlies anxiety and sleep disturbances. The lehyam form (a herbal jam) ensures easy absorption and caters to individuals who may have digestive sensitivity, as it’s generally more gentle on the stomach.

When it comes to consumption, lehyam can be taken on its own, typically a spoonful before meals, usually in the morning or evening. However, if you’ve got a sensitive stomach, mix it with warm milk or warm water which can soothe your digestive fire (agni) and aid better assimilation. Be mindful if you have any known allergies or intolerances; start with a small dose to gauge your body’s response.

It’s important to remember that, while Ashwagandha helps, holistic management is key. Incorporate practices like regular yoga, and pranayama to enhance circulation and manage stress. Consider maintaining a consistent sleep schedule to retrain your body’s internal clock and practicing calming bedtime routines, which may include light breathing exercises.

Do keep an eye on your symptoms. If this type of persistent fatigue and anxiety continues or becomes worse, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional to rule out underlying conditions. Remember, Ayurvedic treatments work best when assimilated with a balanced lifestyle and personal health consultations for your prakriti (body constitution).
