Hello Ashritha,

I understand your concern about dark circles. In Ayurveda, dark circles are not just a skin problem. They often indicate deeper issues like stress, lack of sleep, poor digestion, nutritional deficiencies, or too much screen time. But don’t worry; we are here to help you.

✅ AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT

1. Manjistha Churna – 1 tsp at night with warm milk or water (blood purifier).
2. Mahatiktakam ks tab 2-0-2 after meals (detox, improves skin tone).
3. Sarivasavam 30ml-0-30ml after meals.
4. Brahmi Vati 1 tab at night (improves sleep and calms the mind).

✅ EXTERNAL REMEDIES FOR DARK CIRCLES

1. Aloe vera gel plus almond oil – massage gently under your eyes at night.
2. Cucumber slices or potato juice – apply for 15 minutes daily to reduce puffiness and pigmentation.
3. Rose water pads – dip cotton pads in rose water and place them over your eyes for 10 to 15 minutes.
4. Manjistha and sandalwood paste – apply a thin layer around your eyes, 10 minutes before washing off.
5. Castor oil – apply a drop under each eye at night for skin nourishment.

✅ LIFESTYLE MODIFICATION

Set a regular sleep schedule; aim to sleep before 11 PM and wake up early.
Avoid screens (mobile, laptop, or TV) one hour before bedtime.
In the evening, drink warm milk with nutmeg powder or ashwagandha, as it promotes sound sleep.
Practice Bhramari Pranayama and Anulom Vilom before bed to relax your mind.
Do Trataka kriya (gentle candle gazing) for eye health.

✅ DIET MODIFICATION

✅ INCLUDE
Amla, pomegranate, soaked almonds, and walnuts.
Green leafy vegetables, beetroot, and carrots (for iron and blood).
Warm water and herbal teas (tulsi, brahmi).

❌ AVOID
Junk food and late-night snacking.
Too much coffee, tea, and alcohol (which dries the skin and disturbs sleep).

Creams alone cannot eliminate dark circles. We must address the root causes, such as stress, sleep, blood quality, and digestion.

Ayurveda emphasizes internal detox, blood purification, stress relief, and nourishing external care.

With consistent lifestyle changes, herbal medicines, and home remedies, you can gradually lighten dark circles, restore healthy skin, and boost your confidence.

Wishing you good health.

Warm regards,
Dr. Snehal Vidhate

Sleep & Lifestyle Tips - Fix your sleep window: Sleep by 10 PM, wake by 6 AM—this aligns with circadian rhythms and reduces Vata aggravation. - Avoid screens 1 hour before bed: Blue light disrupts melatonin. - Hydration: Sip warm water throughout the day—dehydration worsens under-eye hollowness.

Dark circles can often be traced back to factors such as lack of sleep, stress, or excessive screen time, among others. To address them through Ayurveda, firstly, consider balancing your doshas, as this foundational step aids overall well-being. If you are experiencing Vata imbalance, which is often linked with insomnia, this might be affecting your sleep and skin.

To start with, try customizing your diet. Focus on incorporating more whole foods that pacify Vata and provide essential nutrients. Include warm, cooked meals in your daily routine like moong dal, sweet potatoes, and ghee to promote grounding and nourishment. Hydrate sufficiently throughout the day but avoid drinking water right before sleep.

Develop a consistent sleep routine by going to bed and waking up at the same time every day even on weekends. Ensure your sleeping environment is calm, dark, and without electronic disturbances. Avoid any screen-time at least one hour before bed to minimize blue light effect on sleep cycles.

For topical treatments, fine application of a mixture of almond oil and coconut oil massaged gently around the eyes may help to lighten dark circles over time. Do this at night and wash off in the morning to improve skin health naturally.

Consider adopting a brief evening routine of meditation or yoga nidra to help relax your nervous system and prepare your body for rest. Breathe deeply during the day, focusing on long exhales to promote calm.

If stress is a contributing factor, engage regularly in practices that promote relaxation, such as abhyanga (self-massage) with warm sesame oil, which can be pacifying for Vata dosha and support better sleep.

In case these changes don’t bring satisfactory improvement or the dark circles are persistently worsening, it would be advisable to consult with an Ayurveda practitioner for further tailored advice. Remember healing takes time and consistent efforts for genuine results.
