HELLO ASHOK,

Eczema is a chronic skin condition characterised by dryness, itching, flaking, or cracks on the skin From an Ayurvedic point of view, eczema develops when the three doshas (vata, pitta, kapha) become imbalanced, especially vata (causing dryness) and pitta (causing redness, heat and inflammation

WHY ECZEMA HAPPENS -Poor digestion -> formation of ama (toxins)-> mixes with rakta (blood)-> circulates to the skin -> causes inflammation, itching, and scaling -Long term stress, improper diet, or lack of sleep aggravates the imbalance -overuse of harsh soaps or chemical creams worsens dryness and vata imbalance

TREATMENT GOALS -purify the blood -remove toxins -balance the aggravated doshas -nourish and heal the skin -prevent recurrence through diet and lifestyle correction

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

1) KHADIRARISHTA= 20 ml with equal water after meals twice daily for 3 months =useful in eczema, blood purifier, antiinflammatory, anti itch

2) MAHAMANJSITHADI KASHAYA= 20 ml with equal water after meals twice daily for 3 month =potent blood purifier , and anti inflammatory

CAN BOTH TO BE TAKEN TOGETHER? -Yes, khadirarishta and mahamanjistha kashaya are often prescribed together in Ayurveda for chronic skin conditions

HOWEVER -take small doshas 15 ml each mixed together with equal water of water after meals -continue for 8 weeks

INTERNAL MEDICINES- ADDITIONS

1) GANDHAK RASAYANA= 1 tab twice daily after meals =excessive dryness/scaling

2) AROGYAVARDHINI VATI + SYP SARIVADYASAVA= 1 tab twice daily + 20 ml sip twice daily =itcching/ burning

3) KAISHOR GUGGULU= 2 tabs twice daily after meals =chronic resistant, eczema

4) MAHATIKTA GHRITA= 1 tsp at bedtime with warm water =vata dominant dry, cracked lesions

EXTERNAL TREATMENTS

1) KARANJA TAILA= apply thin layer twice daily =dry, scaly excema

2) NIMBA TAILA= mix with coconut oil before use =itching, redness

3) ELADI TAILA= use for gentle massage after bath =sensitive skin, mild lesions

4) JATYADI TAILA= apply at night for healing =craced or bleeding lesions

BATHING RITUALS -use lukewarm water; avoid hot water -mix neem leaves or turmeric powder in bathwater for antiseptic effect -use mild herbal cleansers - multani mitti, aloe vera gel, or sandalwood powder paste instead of soaps

LIFESTYLE AND ROUTINE -SLEEP= sleep early and adequately 7-8 hours. avoid late nights -STRESS= practice relaxation- meditation, yoga, or music therapy -BATHING= daily gentle bathing with lukewarm water; apply oil before bath if skin is dry -CLOTHING= wear loose, cotton clothes. Avoid synthetic or wool fabrics -ENVIRONMENT= avoid excessive heat, sunlight, or dry cold wind exposure -HABITS= avoid scratching lesions, it worsens infection and thickening

YOGA ASANAS -sarvangasana= improves blood flow -trikonasana= stimulates digestion and metabolism -bhujangasana= enhances skin glow and reduces pitta -pawanmuktasana= detoxifies -shavasana = relaxes mind and body

PRANAYAM -Anulom vilom= balances doshas -Sheetali/sheetkari= cools pitta heat -Bhramari= relieves stress

DIET -Easily digestible= khichdi, boiled vegetables, green gram soups -Vegetables= bitter gourd, bottle gourd, ridge gourd, pumpkin, ash gourd -Fruits= pomegranate, apple, papaya, guava -Grainss= barely, old rice, wheat -Fats= small amount of cow’s ghee for internal lubrication -Spices= turmeric, coriander, cumin, fennel -Water= warm water with a few droops of lemon or guduchi decoction

SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES -NEEM + TURMERICP PASTE = mix neem leaf powder +turmeric + rose water–> wash gently -ALOE VERA GEL= pure aloe vera gel soothes itching and promotes healing -COCONUT OIL + CAMPHOR= 1 tbsp coconut oil + pinch of camphor -> apply lightly on dry eczema (avoid open wounds) -OATMEAL BATH= add powdered oats to warm bath warm-> reduces itching and dryness -TURMERIC MILK= at bedtime- internal anti inflammatory effect

Consciency and lifestyle discipline are key

Hello Ashok, I can understand your concern about dry eczema. Dry eczema is a chronic skin disorder caused mainly by vitiation of Vata and Kapha dosha along with Rakta (blood) impurities.but dont worry we are here to help you out😊

✅ Can Khadirashta and Mahamanjishtadi be taken together?

Yes — Khadirashta and Mahamanjishtadi can be safely taken together Both act synergistically to purify blood, reduce inflammation, and relieve chronic eczema.

✅ Suggested Dosage

Khadirashta: 15–20 ml with equal quantity of lukewarm water after lunch and dinner.

Mahamanjishtadi Arishta: 15–20 ml with equal quantity of water after food

If both are taken together, they can be mixed and consumed after meals (not on an empty stomach).

Duration: Usually 2–3 months of continuous use, then reassessment.

✅ Benefits of Each

✅ Khadirashta

Purifies blood and reduces skin itching, dryness, and inflammation. Helps clear Ama (toxins) from Rakta dhatu. Useful in eczema, urticaria, and other allergic skin disorders.

✅Mahamanjishtadi Arishta

Deep blood purifier and detoxifier. Improves complexion and helps in long-standing skin conditions with pigmentation. Acts as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant tonic.

✅ For Dry Type (Vata Dominant) Eczema

Since your eczema is dry, internal cleansing must be balanced with moisturizing and nourishing therapies.

✅ Internal Support 1 Gandhak Rasayan (1 tab twice daily) — helps balance dryness and itching.

✅ External Support (Topical Care)

Apply Kumkumadi Taila or Eladi Taila mixed with a few drops of coconut oil twice daily.

In severe dryness, Jatyadi Taila or Nalpamaradi Taila can used at night.

Avoid soap; use moisturizing herbal powder bath – green gram + neem + sandalwood + licorice powder.

✅DIET AND LIFESTYLE Since skin disorders are directly linked to digestion (Agni), diet is as important as medicine.

✅INCLUDE

Warm, freshly cooked food; old grains (brown rice, barley). Cow ghee, sesame oil, flaxseed. Moong dal, bottle gourd, pumpkin, ridge gourd. Turmeric, coriander, cumin, fennel. Amla juice (20 ml daily) for antioxidant support.

❌Avoid Curd, sour foods, fried/oily items, bakery items. Fish with milk or curd. Pickles, fermented foods, junk foods. Stress and late-night sleeping.

✅ Lifestyle & Detox

Gentle sweating (Svedana) and periodic mild purgation (Virechana) help long-term recovery.

Practice Yoga & Pranayama: especially Anulom Vilom, Bhramari, and Sheetali for cooling the body and calming Pitta-Vata.

Wishing you a good health😊

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Taking Khadarishta and Mahamanjishta is possible for managing dry eczema, but it’s essential to pay attention on how your body responds to these treatments. Khadarishta, primarily known for its ability to detoxify the blood and improve skin ailments, can be helpful. On the other hand, Mahamanjishthadi Kwath, or in tablet form, is renowned for purifying blood, reducing inflammation and balancing pitta or kapha doshas that can aggravate skin conditions like eczema.

For your condition, it’s usually appropriate to take Mahamanjishta and Khadarishta twice daily—around 10-20 ml of Khadarishta with an equal amount of water after meals, and Mahamanjishta, typically in tablet form, one or two tablets post meal. But, since you have had eczema for 3 years, you should consider potential dietary and lifestyle changes to complement this therapy.

Focus on foods that help pacify the pitta dosha, since eczema often flares up due to excessive heat. Consume cooling foods like cucumbers, melons, and leafy greens and reduce spicy, fried and oily foods. Stay well-hydrated with plenty of water and herbal teas like coriander or fennel. Avoid known allergens in your diet, and try to keep a routine for meals and sleep as this can also aid the treatment.

Monitor your condition regularly and take note of any changes, positive or negative. Ayurvedic treatment is holistic and progress might be slow but consistent. If any adverse effects occur, it’s recommended to cease the treatment and consult with a local Ayurvedic practitioner to tailor a regime that caters specifically to your body type and lifestyle. Always make sure that your approach does not inhibit the opportunity to seek conventional medical advice if needed especially when the condition worsens.
