why my hair started falling suddenly - #38809
I am seriously freaked out right now. Last month everything was fine, and then suddenly, my hair started falling out like crazy. I have always had thick hair, and now I’m finding clumps in my shower and on my pillow. I can’t figure out, like, why my hair started falling suddenly. I mean, I’ve been feeling some stress lately with work and life in general, but I didn’t think it would affect my hair this much. I read that it could be related to hormonal changes or maybe even a deficiency in vitamins, but I don't know what to think. I tried some over-the-counter shampoos, but they don’t seem to help. Also, I have noticed my scalp feels a little itchy, which is kinda weird? Like, could that be related? I just really wanna know why my hair started falling suddenly. I’m worried it might be something serious, and I don’t want to go bald or anything. I guess I’ve also been eating junk food way more often, which I know isn't good, but I was hoping a change in diet would help. Are there specific Ayurvedic treatments or herbs I should look into? Any advice would be amazing cause I’m really desperate here. Thanks in advance!

Doctors' responses
A sudden increase in hair fall can indeed be distressing, but it’s important to identify the root causes to address it properly. From an Ayurvedic perspective, several factors could be contributing to the issue. The symptoms you described, such as itchiness and sudden shedding, often suggest a possible imbalance in your Pitta dosha. Pitta imbalance, usually aggravated by stress, poor dietary choices like increased junk food, or change in hormones, can lead to hair fall and scalp issues.
Prioritize a diet rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and proteins. Include foods like spinach, almonds, sesame seeds, and amla which are beneficial for promoting hair health. Also, ensure you stay hydrated and try to limit caffeine or alcohol, both of which can exacerbate Pitta imbalance.
Ayurveda recommends some herbs known for their positive etkects on hair. One such herb is Bhringraj. Bhringraj oil, when applied to the scalp, can help strengthen hair roots and promote growth. You can gently massage Bhringraj oil onto your scalp once or twice a week, allowing it to penetrate the scalp overnight before washing it off in the morning.
Additionally, consider incorporating Brahmi and Ashwagandha known for their stress-reducing properties. You can take these in the form of supplements after consulting with an ayurvedic practitione.
Scalp irritation may also benefit from neem oil which has antimicrobial properties. Dilute neem oil with coconut or sesame oil and apply it to the affect areas to potentially soothe it.
Create a routine that limits stress. Engage in practices such as yoga or meditation, which can help calm the mind and indirectly assist in reducing hair fall by balancing your doshas.
While these steps can be very helpful in managing the sudden onset of hair fall, it is crucial to consult with a healthcare provider to rule out any underlying medical issues, such as thyroid imbalances or deficiencies in iron, vitamin D, or B12. Remember, comprehensive diagnostics is essential before beginning any new treatment regimen.
