Late periods, like you’ve mentioned, might be related to various factors in Ayurveda, often linked to an imbalance in your doshas, particularly Vata, which influences the menstrual cycle. Here are some ways to help get your cycle back on track naturally.

First, consider your diet. Incorporating a Vata-pacifying diet can be beneficial. Warm, cooked foods like grains, legumes, root vegetables, and cooked fruits should be prioritized. Spices such as cumin, cinnamon, and ginger can help stimulate your agni (digestive fire) and regulate menstruation. Try to avoid cold foods and drinks, as they may aggravate Vata.

Daily routine adjustments can help too. Gentle physical activities like yoga, stretches or walking are excellent for grounding Vata. Aim to maintain a regular sleep schedule, as irregular sleep patterns can disturb your body’s natural rhythm. Strive for 7-8 hours of rest to balance your cycle effectively.

Herbal remedies in Ayurveda are also worth considering. Ashoka (Saraca asoca) is known for its supportive action on the female reproductive system. A combination of Ashoka and Shatavari may be taken to help maintain hormonal balance. However, it’s advised to take such herbs under the guidance of a qualified practitioner to avoid inappropriate use.

Stress also plays a massive role in delaying periods. Techniques like meditation and pranayama (breath control practices) can reduce anxiety and support regular menstrual cycles. Practicing Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) may help calm the mind and balance the doshas.

Lastly, monitoring your cycle for a few months is wise. If delays remain persistent or other symptoms arise, seeking professional help from an Ayurvedic physician or a gynecologist is crucial. They can offer a detailed examination and specific remedies to assist you better.
