how to repair damaged hair at home - #39378
I am feeling kinda lost here with my hair, and I really need some help on how to repair damaged hair at home. Like, just a few months ago, my hair was super healthy, but then I started using a new dye and wow, it totally wrecked my hair!! 😩 It’s all dry and frizzy now, and no amount of conditioner seems to fix it. I tried coconut oil, and some DIY masks I found online, but honestly, nothing seems to work like I hoped. I read somewhere that the way I blow-dry my hair might be contributing to the damage, too. I think I might be using too much heat... but I don’t want my hair to look like a complete mess every time I wash it ya know? When I brush it, I feel like I’m just pulling out more hair. Is also there a specific routine I should follow on how to repair damaged hair at home or certain ingredients that are more effective? And, ugh, my scalp feels a bit sensitive also since all of this started. Should I be worried, or is that normal? Just really feeling overwhelmed by this whole thing, and any advice you guys could share would be just amazing! Thx! 🙏

Repairing damaged hair at home, particularly when it’s suffering from dryness and frizziness due to chemical dyes, can be challenging but achievable with consistent care. Your issue with frizz and dryness points towards an imbalance in the Vata dosha, which tends to cause roughness and brittleness.
The first step is to adopt a gentle hair care routine. Start by using a mild, sulfate-free shampoo, as harsh chemicals can strip the natural oils from your hair. After shampooing, apply a conditioner infused with ingredients like amla (Indian gooseberry) or bhringraj, which are known for their restorative properties in Ayurveda. Rinse with cool water to seal the hair cuticles.
Oil massages are an important aspect of your hair-care regimen. Warm some sesame oil or bhringraj oil and gently massage it into your scalp and hair once or twice a week. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes before washing it off. These oils not only help in nourishing the hair and scalp but also possess soothing properties that may help your sensitive scalp feel more at ease.
Limit heat styling. Try air-drying your hair as often as possible, or use the cool setting on hair dryers. Likewise, avoid tight hairstyles that may cause additional stress on already weakened hair strands.
Opt for a nourishing hair mask once a week. You can create a mask using yogurt and honey which can add moisture and smoothness to your hair. Apply the mixture evenly, leave it for 20-30 minutes, and rinse thoroughly.
Watch your diet, as hair health is strongly connected to nutritional intake. Incorporate foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, like flaxseeds and walnuts, which promote healthy hair. Include plenty of vegetables and fruits for their vitamins and antioxidant properties.
Hydration is also important. Drink plenty of water during the day, as it helps in maintaining overall body hydration, including hair moisture.
Reduce stress, as it can contribute to hair fall. Consider practicing yoga or meditation to help balance stress levels and promote better overall health.
Regarding the sensitivity of your scalp, this can be normal after hair dyeing but proceed with caution. If irritation persists or worsens, it’s advisable to consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation.
Following these steps consistently could help restore your hair’s natural vitality. Patience is key; natural remedies take time to show results, but with determination, your hair can regain health and shine.
